About the Role

The role of Financial Accountant offers an opportunity to make an important impact on our business by serving as a financial liaison collaborating with internal teams and external clients. The Financial Accountant will report to and work closely with the Controller to originate and monitor project budgets, facilitate billing, and perform cost and overall profitability analysis.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Partner with Project Managers to compile monthly client reimbursements
  • Manage monthly client reimbursement process
  • Partner with Construction Manager to compile monthly draw packages
  • Submit monthly draw packages to financial institutions
  • Function as a liaison between project management and the client as it relates to reimbursements and payments
  • Process monthly vendor invoices for project related spend
  • Prepare monthly Fee for Service invoices
  • Apply client reimbursements to projects
  • Track flow of funds by project
  • Create and input month end journal entries into accounting system
  • Reconcile project spend and provide project costs for closing
  • Create and input project closing journal entries into accounting system

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

  • Three years of related accounting experience in a business environment managing the accounting process with project accounting experience preferred
  • Strong general ledger skills with the ability to not only report, but analyze the results
  • Significant business interactions requiring independent professional judgment are expected
  • Must have excellent analytical skills and significant experience using computers and software applications similar to MRI, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, and other software applications
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills; ability to articulate strategies and implement policies
  • Solid knowledge and application of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Excellent reasoning ability is required to solve and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to a wide range of business problems.
