Skagit Valley Food Co-Op is Hiring a Food Production Manager Near Mount Vernon, WA

Description

Responsible for efficient and profitable high quality food production, creating, and implementing products and menus, overseeing the organization and performance of kitchen/production operations. Also, responsible to achieve or surpass goals for the Catering Operation (if it exists). Works in partnership with the Prepared Foods Director to achieve or surpass planned goals for targeted sales, profit, and product turnover, while operating within the Skagit Valley Food Co-op’s philosophy, policies and procedures.

Requirements

Primary Job Duties

Ensures that the Co-op’s policies and procedures are enforced and administered in a timely fashion and recommends any changes warranted.

In conjunction with the Prepared Foods Director and Kitchen Supervisor, directs food production, par levels, food inventory and the transfer of product from production area to the store. 

· In conjunction with the Prepared Foods Director, is responsible for development of products, techniques, and systems to improve the food production process.

· Maintains Prepared Foods Department sanitation procedures and ensures compliance with governmental regulations regarding safety and sanitation for perishable foods. 

Oversees, with other designated staff, the ordering of inventory for production as well as maintaining vendor relations with Co-op purveyors. 

Involved in interviewing, participates in hiring decisions, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, promotions, retention and dismissal of PFD Cooks and PFD Clerks.

Establishes and maintains positive relations with customers, members, and all other Co-op Staff. 

Organizational Relationships

Supervises Commissary Staff, Packaging, Receiving, Utility Clerks, Cooks, Dishwashers, Kitchen Porters, and Catering Department.

Works in partnership with Kitchen Supervisor, Deli Manager, and Bakery Manager to ensure customer satisfaction and profitability. 

Interacts with vendors, staff, and co-workers.

Quality Standards

Stays within planned budget as set by the Prepared Foods Director.

Maintains acceptable inventory levels.

Ensures compliance with laws and regulations.

Conducts annual performance reviews, on schedule, for direct reports and gives feedback/follow-up when necessary.

Achieves operational, sales, and profitability goals for Prepared Foods Department in conjunction with the Director of Prepared Foods.

Maintains a high level of sanitation throughout operations, observing all SOP’s and HACCP principles as mandated assuring training and observance of same from staff members. 

Qualifications and Skills

High School Diploma or GED required.

Demonstrated experience (minimum of 3-years) with knowledge of commercial food production, such as catering, or café/restaurant operations.

Minimum of 3-years of kitchen supervisory experience.

Advanced culinary skills. 

Ability to model and provide excellent customer service.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.

Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision. 

Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, customers and vendors.

Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and preform work in various situations and follow through with projects to completion.

Proficient with computers including POS systems and Microsoft Office products.

Ability to maintain current food handler worker card and CPR certification.

Must be available to work retail hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Must be at least 18 years of age. 

Essential Physical Requirements

Prolonged standing and walking.

Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and rotating.

Continuous fine motors skills work and gripping with hands.

Must be able to meet physical demands including standing, bending, twisting, repetitive
motion, and lifting 10-60lbs regularly. 

Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
