Description
The Bulk Specialist shares all responsibilities of Grocery Team Members and is responsible to help select, order, and merchandise bulk products to meet the objectives for sales, margin, and customer service to ensure the department contributes to the best financial interest of the Co-op.
Requirements
Primary Duties
Keeps the bulk aisle clean, organized, and properly labeled and priced
Maintains an effective ordering system to ensure quality and quantity of product
Maintains knowledge of new products and trends
Meets regularly with the Grocery Manager to discuss product selection, merchandising, promotions, purchasing, and pricing
Communicates bulk department standards, needs, and changes to Grocery Team Members
Develops a good working relationship with our vendors
Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner
Answers phone and pages promptly and courteously.
Ensures that product is rotated, within date and properly displayed
Accurately and neatly stocks products
Pays close attention to product and shelf tags
Regularly cleans up aisle debris, keeps the shelves tidy, and washes the bulk bins and scoops monthly
Keeps the aisle, bins, and product free from pests, mold, and any other contaminants
Follows all security measures
Does not allow anyone in the store after hours
Performs closing duties: clean bulk section, garbage, recycle cardboard, etc
Keeps pace with the team, working harmoniously throughout the store
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
Experience working retail, preferably grocery or natural foods store
Proven ability to provide excellent, professional customer service by projecting a friendly, outgoing presence and maintaining a respectful demeanor at all times
Ability to handle multiple demands, remain calm, think quickly, prioritize effectively, and problem solve within established guidelines
Ability to work well with others in a cooperative environment where teamwork, compassion and constant communication are essential
Ability to meet expectations of regular, predictable attendance
Ability to work retail shifts including mornings, evenings and weekends
Ability to maintain current food handler card
Must be at least 18 years of age
Essential Physical Requirements
Prolonged standing and walking
Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and rotating
Continuous fine motors skills work and gripping with hands
Ability to lift 30 lbs. often, up to 50 lbs. occasionally
Ability to use and climb ladders regularly
Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
Exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc.)
