Job Summary
Audiologist has the skill to perform comprehensive hearing evaluations on all ages. Communicate results and pertinent information to all staff involved. Audiologist must be a team player, flexible and able to work in a variety of locations. Audiologist holds at least a Masters level degree in this profession. Salary Range: $39.86/hr to $59.79/hr DOE Skagit Regional Health offers a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision, 457b/401a (retirement), long term disability, and paid time off to all employees holding an FTE of 20 or more hours per week. Eligible employees also receive sick time pay.
Essential Functions
• Administers comprehensive audiologic evaluations, which may include, but are not limited to otoscopy, air and bone conduction testing, impedance measures on all ages (i.e. tympanometry, acoustic reflex and decay), speech reception threshold and word recognition tests, MCL and tonal UCL tests. • Knowledge in and skilled in performing pediatric audiologic evaluations including visual or play based on patients chronological or developmental age. Must be able to determine correct testing techniques based on child’s abilities. • Perform and interpret Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emission Testing (DPOAEs) or Transcient Evoked Otoacoustic Emission Testing (TEOAE)/results as needed or requested by Cascade ENT physicians or area physicians. • Administers Tinnitus assessment test battery to determine pitch, loudness, intensity and pitch level of tinnitus. Ability to interpret Tinnitus Handicap • Administer and interpret tinnitus/hearing survey and tinnitus handicap inventory for treatment purposes. Able to assimilate information and relate it to medical professionals and patients. • Performs industrial hearing screens. Write report and route to proper company. • Assists patients in opening claims for occupational hearing loss through the Department of Labor & Industries or other self-insured companies. • Interpret test results to determine hearing loss, type and degree. Recommend proper treatment plan based on results. • Evaluate test results in relation to patient’s behavioral, social, educational, and medical information obtained from patient’s families, teachers, speech language pathologists or other professionals to determine communication problems related to hearing or speech disabilities. • Determines if child’s speech or language delay is related to hearing loss or other factors for treatment purpose. Audiologist has knowledge on speech and language development. • Decides if a referral is necessary for further testing in the areas of neuro-developmental, special education, speech therapy and whether or not psycho-educational evaluations are necessary for preschool or school aged children. • Plans and implements habilitative and rehabilitative services regarding benefits of amplification and other assistive listening devices that enhance residual hearing. • Knowledge and experience with hearing aids, programming, fitting, troubleshooting devices. • Network with other professionals in the community to refer patients for ancillary services. • Knowledge about balance testing and disorders. • Administers –VNG on patients that suffer from dizziness or balance disorders. Interprets and recommends possible treatment options related to outcome of VNG. • Performs Canalith Repositioning Maneuvers at the request of physicians in or outside of the practice for treatment of BPPV. • Determine at any time whether a medical referral to a physician is necessary and refers patients as needed. • Experience or willingness to learn the use of electronic medical records to document patient visit and test results. • Identify contact person for equipment concerns in the absence of supervisor. • Perform daily biological check on equipment. • Document test results using EMR system. • Documents all phone calls, progress notes and test results in CENT EMR system. • Fax letters, audiograms and other chart notes via Epic.
Education
Masters in Audiology or Doctorate in Audiology
Experience/Training
Prefer 2 years clinical experience
License/Certification
Washington State License for Audiology
Other Qualifications
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Must be able to effectively utilize Microsoft Office applications to perform work. Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills required. Must be able to effectively prioritize workload amongst frequent interruptions with competing priorities. Knowledge of the healthcare environment required. Experience with an EMR. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred. Ability to coordinate work schedule with requirements of position.
