The Payroll Specialist plays an important role within the Human Resources team by performing a number of tasks related to the Company’s payroll functions. Assists with a variety of clerical tasks related to maintaining employee data, ensuring proper deductions, processing of payroll, and specialized tasks related to payroll tax or payroll and accounting. The Payroll Specialist provides amazing service to our internal customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Assists with payroll on a bi-weekly basis. Audits payroll before and after it is submitted by pulling reports and using formulas to reconcile data. Review timecards for hourly employees to make sure there are no errors. Prepare final and manual checks for employees as needed
  • Supports, maintains, and optimizes the HRIS\HCM database. Ensures the system records are accurately recorded and crosschecked, ensuring that rules concerning confidentiality and retention are followed
  • Supports validation of all new hire information into the HRIS\HCM database. Ensuring that all forms and benefit applications are completed accurately
  • Processes employment verifications and all employee status changes
  • Inputs payroll records accurately for all new employees
  • Calculates special checks, reviews, edits, and processes adjustments as needed
  • Reviews and checks online timecards for accuracy and completeness
  • Makes required changes to employee payroll deductions. Processes child support deductions and garnishments, and requests checks for appropriate recipients of funds
  • Processes manual payroll checks as required in case of payroll errors, terminations, or special circumstances
  • Tracks and resolves payroll errors. Completes payroll adjustments and corrections as necessary
  • Ensures that payroll functions are performed in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Accurately input and validate employee change forms
  • Provides Accounting Department with departmental payroll data to fund and record the payroll
  • Complete month end payroll reports
  • Maintains current knowledge of all federal and state laws and regulations, along with the Bank’s policies and procedures

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • High school graduate or equivalent. College degree preferable and/or relevant HR training or certification preferred
  • 2 years of payroll experience
  • Extensive data entry skills, spreadsheet, and word processing proficiency required
  • Experience working in multi-state payroll preferred
  • Knowledge of laws affecting human resources and payroll administration. Understanding of payroll and human resource reporting and recordkeeping requirements
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

BANK SECRECY ACT 

Responsible for adhering to the reporting and recordkeeping requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering rules and regulations, observing economic sanctions by prohibiting transactions as specified by the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), following the bank’s customer identification program (CIP) rules, observing all Bank policies and procedures relating to BSA, OFAC, CIP, and related acts, and participation in ongoing related training.
