- Asphalt Class 1 Laborer must be able to perform tasks involving physical labor on jobsites.
- May operate a variety of hand and power tools.
- May clean and prepare job sites.
- May assist other craft workers.

- Ensure Safety and Quality are the 1st priority on every project.
- Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring potential hazards / problems to the attention of the Foreman or Safety Director.
- Immediately reports any suspected drug, alcohol, or intoxication to the Safety Director.
- This position is identified as a "safety sensitive position" due to working around heavy equipment and street / highway construction projects.
- Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in street /highway construction projects.
- Perform manual work in preparing surfaces for paving.
- Rake / shovel asphalt in construction area.
- Assist in patching asphalt with hot /cold mix.
- Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards.
- Material handling and storage.
- Possibly direct / guide trucks to unload asphalt / material.
Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
