Job Title: Kitchen Assistant
Department: Nutrition (Dept#400)
Reports to: Executive Chef
Pay Range: $13.65 - $14.50
The position is being offered as full time or part time. 40 hours a week (Full Time), Monday – Friday 6:30 am – 3:00 pm shift or 25 hours a week (Part Time), Monday - Friday. NO WEEKENDS!
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for food trays, cooking utensils and kitchen implements using both machine and manual methods.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Sort and stack dishes and other kitchen utensils.
• Clean kitchen area to include sweeping/washing floors and cleaning kitchen equipment.
• Assist with meal prep in the kitchen as required.
• Remove trash to dumpster.
• Evaluate and rotate stock.
• Be available to drive delivery routes as needed.
• May assist in volunteer training (glove use and food safety methods).
• Work independently and as team member.
• Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
DESIRABLE OR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in food handling and sanitation regulations
• Valid CO driver’s license must pass Motor vehicle check.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
State of Colorado Driver’s License.
Complete the SERVSafe certification within 90 days of hire
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires standing, walking and sitting for periods of time. Utilization of hands and fingers to operate office computer keyboard and equipment required. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, talk, hear and stoop, kneel or crouch if needed. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
VISION REQUIREMENTS
Position requires close, distance and peripheral vision.

Moderate noise within kitchen environment and driving within the community
