SignSmith is Hiring a Graphics Installer Near Gorham, ME

Are you a hands-on hard working installer ninja? Do you like a job that is a little different each day? Do you work well on your own, within a team focused environment?

We are offering a full time job to someone who finds hands-on work thrilling. Who loves a fast-paced day. Who finds juggling a breeze, likes people, and doesn’t need us to babysit you.

Working for us won’t be your boring run-of-the-mill corporate job. We are a family-run small business and that is how we like it. None of us here have won the lottery yet, so if we have to come to work, we want to spend our time with people who work hard and play hard. If you don’t play well with others, no need to continue reading.

We are a sales-oriented team. But what we are selling is more than just signs and graphics. It is an experience. We take every opportunity to help people in every way we can. Because of this, you have to have passion for what you do. You have to want to do your job so hard. You will be dealing with people. All the people, all the time. The sales team, the warehouse guy, the customers, the subcontractors, the vendors, the mailman, the order taker at our favorite lunch spot. All those people come fully stocked as real humans, not computerized. So if you find that you are allergic to dealing with different personality types, this job will certainly give you hives.

We don’t take someone spending their time or money with us lightly. We consider it an honor. So you have to be on board with making sure that we are doing what we said we would do, when we said we would do it, the way we said we would do it.

Every little detail matters, and there are so many details in the work we do. Because of this, you have to be a master of the universe when it comes to details. You also have to be able to think through all those details and organize them like your job depends on it. No, really. You can’t have the job if you aren’t a detailed and organized person. Being analytical and observant is what is going to set you apart from the rest. We love problem solvers. Not problem identifiers. Anyone can see the elephant in the room, but how are you going to move that big beast out of the way?

We are so proud of the work we do. We find joy in seeing our hard work come to fruition and seeing our customers overjoyed at their finished project. No one has shackled anyone to a desk around here. We are here because we want to be here and we love what we do.

Company Culture

Working at SignSmith is both challenging and super fun! We get to flex our critical thinking skills just about every day. From working together to juggle the rigors of producing signs and vehicle graphics for 50 projects each month, to mundane tasks like keeping the workspace clean and organized. We work hard, move fast, and think scrupulously. It’s not an easy job, but it IS a rewarding job. You’ll learn a lot here about task sharing within a team, breaking big projects into bite-sized pieces, and how to begin a task with the end in mind. These are skills that aren’t frequently taught in school, but can be used in just about any career. And we give them to you for FREE - along with technical training on all types of graphics installation projects.

What do we offer?

  • Flexible schedule - when you finish the project, you’re done for the day! (great for self-starters)
  • Fun work - every day is a little different.
  • Amazing team - we’re building an amazing team. Will you be one of the founding members?
  • Personal development skills - Ok, so the boss is into personal development. Coaching, self help books, podcasts on growing professional and personal skill sets. This sounds a little boring, but what it means is that you get to work with a really cool boss who cares about being the BEST boss for her employees. She gets it when life goes all crazy and swallows us up. She’d rather have you get that extra hour of rest vs. coming to work with half a brain. She’s not a pushover, but she’s understanding, kind, and a pretty darn good human to work for.
  • Travel opportunities - we’re opening a second location in North Carolina!

Job Requirements

Clean driving record * Valid driver’s license * Able to lift 50 lbs * Able to stand for 8 hour work days * Reliable transportation to / from work * Able to communicate clearly * Full range of motion / dexterity in hands, body

Salary

$15 - $25/hr

If you’ve never done this sort of work before, you’re going to need LOTS of training. You’ll make a ton of mistakes. And that’s ok! It’s how we all learn best. For a beginner with ZERO experience, this job starts out at $15/hr.

Seasoned installers, with at least 2 years of vehicle wrap install experience, start at $25/hr. A hands-on test will be involved for this sort of pay. I’m sure you understand.

How to Apply

If you want to work with a team of fun-loving hard-working family-oriented badasses, you should do the following:

1. Part of the job is to understand what we do and don’t do. Go to our website and look around. When you think you have a feel of our product line, compose an email with the top 3 products as the subject line.

2. Attach your resume. Make sure to include at least three professional references because we check them. Bonus: if you find any glitches or mistakes on the website, please let us know what you find.

3. Once you do this we will reply and send over the boring factual job description. If you are still interested after reading the job description, reply back in the subject line with “Hey! I want this job!” then tell us in the body of the email why you think you would be a super good fit with our team.

We’re looking forward to meeting our next great team member. Will that be you?
