Maintenance Technician (Night Shift)

SIGMADESIGN has collaborated with a global company seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join their facility in Portland, OR. Founded on compassion and determination, this company produces a comprehensive line of marinating sauces and premium crafted sodas.

Shifts:

  • Night: 7:30PM – 4:00AM (some flexibility)

Primary Function:

Our client is seeking a skilled, reliable production line Technician who can make repairs and troubleshoot equipment failures.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:

  • understands hydraulics, compressed air and electrical-mechanical systems
  • Proactive and observant; keep equipment running without waiting for it to break down
  • Adhere to good manufacturing practices (GMPs)
  • All technicians: Perform installation, maintenance, and repair work on various equipment associated with food processing and packaging.
  • Additional duties for Tech II & III: Troubleshoot and maintain Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Boilers, Compressed Air, and Mechanical Linkage systems.
  • Additional duties for Tech III: Troubleshoot and maintain Electrical systems. Train technician I and II level coworkers.
  • Prioritize the production line staying up and running. Promptly communicate to production supervisors, maintenance manager, and co-workers on work status, the need for assistance, parts needed, follow-through and pass down information for another technician to take over.
  • Maintain work completion records and logs, including a computerized work order system as needed.
  • Comply with all Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Equipment, Machinery, Tools Use:
    • Standard shop tools and equipment, lathe, pipe-threader, welder, scissor lift, forklift, etc.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Work performed in the production line, warehouse, and shop.
    • Subject to temperature variation, long hours standing on concrete and occasionally shifting work hours to support production and team staffing.

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)

  • On-the-job experience, training with an apprentice, or AA degree for mechanical-related technical work.
  • Prefer maintenance experience in food or chemical manufacturing.
  • Prefer experience with food processing and packaging equipment but will consider candidates with similar experience in other environments.
  • Experience with PLC Machinery, Conveyor, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, and Electro-mechanical repairs.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, construction drawings, and SDS sheets.
  • Thorough knowledge of standard hand and power tools and equipment used in plant maintenance and repair activities.
  • Safety mindset.
  • Works well independently and with others, good communicator, organized.
  • Basic shop math is associated with maintenance activities.
  • Pass a post-offer background verification.
