Job Overview

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner role is a hospital- wide position, responsible for promoting expert compassionate nursing care for patients and their families. This role is both a leadership and a clinical practice role encompassing patient health assessment, treatment, evaluation; staff and patient education. Also includes nursing research and community outreach.

Responsibilities

• Promotes nursing care for patients and families through assessments, physical exams, collaboration and management of patients. Will also work with Patient Care Staff to plan, implement and evaluate changes in practice and health care delivery.
• Works closely with the multidisciplinary team, identifying system wide factors contributing to undesirable outcomes.
• Participates in active Research protocols of the Burn Research Center; will individually conduct research in collaboration with Burn Associates; assist nursing and medical colleagues in their research efforts.
• Assures service readiness for the American Burn Association (ABA) verification as well as other regulatory reviews; prepares required documentation.
• Active participation in the Burns Service Outreach Program; participates in community based prevention activities, written communication with referring/primary care physicians. Establishes alliances with pre-hospital providers as well as local and state prevention committees and task forces.

Qualifications

Current MA Nurse Practitioner Licensure with a Master's Degree in Nursing ( PNP, FNP)

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required; Instructor preparation preferred. Family Nurse Practitioner Certification/Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certification

Pediatric ICU experience, either as RN or NP
