Job Summary:
Shriners Hospital – Portland is looking for a Revenue Cycle Specialist to join our team! This position assists with the utilization review process, acts as intermediary with insurance carriers, assigns CPT codes to facilitate authorizations, maintains incomplete authorizations and incomplete referrals checklists. This position communicates with patient families and appropriate departments regarding hospital appointments, and accurately updates, verifies patients’ insurance information in SHCIS in a timely manner.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of insurance verification, authorization, medical billing or utilization experience is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of EMR proficiency is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of medical insurance claims experience with billing, coding and appealing insurance denials is required.
- 1 year of typing and computer skills is required.
- High School Diploma/GED or an Associates in a related field is preferred.
- Demonstrate and apply knowledge of medical terminology and general medical office procedures including HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians and all levels of personnel in a professional, courteous and effective manner using excellent customer service skills.
- Possess excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of ICD0/ICD10 and CPT coding.
