Shriners Children's Portland is Hiring a Revenue Cycle Specialist Near Portland, OR

Title: Revenue Cycle Specialist
Department: Revenue Cycle
Location: Portland, OR
Hours: Part-Time (20 hours/week)
Schedule: Monday – Friday
Job Summary:
Shriners Hospital – Portland is looking for a Revenue Cycle Specialist to join our team! This position assists with the utilization review process, acts as intermediary with insurance carriers, assigns CPT codes to facilitate authorizations, maintains incomplete authorizations and incomplete referrals checklists. This position communicates with patient families and appropriate departments regarding hospital appointments, and accurately updates, verifies patients’ insurance information in SHCIS in a timely manner.

Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of insurance verification, authorization, medical billing or utilization experience is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of EMR proficiency is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of medical insurance claims experience with billing, coding and appealing insurance denials is required.
  • 1 year of typing and computer skills is required.
  • High School Diploma/GED or an Associates in a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrate and apply knowledge of medical terminology and general medical office procedures including HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians and all levels of personnel in a professional, courteous and effective manner using excellent customer service skills.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of ICD0/ICD10 and CPT coding.

On or before October 18, 2021 all candidates who accept a position with SHC-Portland must have received the complete dosing regimen of one of the COVID-19 vaccines currently authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). If you apply for and are offered a position, you must be fully vaccinated prior to starting work; failure to do so will result in rescission of the conditional offer of employment. Questions about COVID-19 vaccinations can be addressed with Employee Health at time of new hire onboarding.
