Responsibilities

The Payroll Specialist will be part of a team whose primary focus is to ensure accurate and timely processing of the company’s payroll. This will be accomplished by understanding all phases of in house payroll processing, providing exceptional customer service for both our employees and internal business partners, and ensuring compliant payroll processing and taxation.

  • Processes Weekly and Bi-Weekly payrolls inclusive of our union and non-union employee population
  • Manages time and attendance by providing support and assistance to employees entering their time. 
  • Processes changes related to Payroll in CMiC, including Federal /State W-4s and Direct Deposit requests
  • Enters adjustments and transactions in CMiC, to prep for the payroll each week, including per diems, on-call payments, auto allowances, merit/retroactive salary adjustments, and Union Rate and Worker’s Comp Rate updates
  • Monitor compliant employee wage garnishment calculations for processing through payroll
  • Research, analyze, and evaluate tax changes for impact to company and employees
  • Investigate, resolve, and respond to tax authority notices and correspondence in a timely manner
  • Responsible for identifying, registering, and administering new payroll taxes as work locations are created
  • Assist with the Quarterly reconciliation of W-2 files

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years’ experience processing payroll required
  • Union and multi-state experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of Federal, State and Local tax regulations, state reciprocity, W2’s and withholding taxes
  • Education: BA/BS preferred
  • American Payroll Association FPC or CPP preferred
  • Working knowledge of CMiC a plus
