Job Description
Foreman
Relationships
Company
· The Foreman reports to the Construction Manager (and to Owner when needed or requested)
· The Foreman supervises any crewmembers that have been assigned to him
· The Foreman will cooperate as needed with other teams and team members within SERVPRO as needed and requested by Construction Manager and/or Owner.
Customers
Our construction team most often works in the customer’s home or place of business. The Foreman is to be the primary contact for the customer during the construction process. It is the Foreman’s responsibility to:
· Ensure the customer’s desire to understand each step of the process is satisfied.
· Answer any question (as far as he/she is able) that the customer may have.
· Communicate time frames for:
o Daily arrival and departure times
o Construction milestones (including steps in processes, drying times, overall projected completion times)
o Any changes to schedule that may occur
Responsibilities
Management
· Safety 
o The Foreman shall model and enforce safe working practices in all aspects of construction.
o This includes leading weekly safety meetings and practicing safe driving, safe ergonomics, safe tool use, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
o It is the Foreman’s responsibility to ensure that the job-site is left in the safest possible condition (given job-site specific constraints) for the customer.
· Time
o The Foreman shall model and enforce with crew time management practices that accord with state laws and company policies.
o This includes, but is not limited to:
§ Arriving at, starting on, breaking from, and ending work at the respective, designated times. (i.e. typically Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm)
§ In one 8-hour work day, the Foreman will call one 30-minute lunch break and two 10-minute breaks (typically at about 10am, and another at about 2pm, but can be adjusted according to needs of the current project).
o The Foreman shall make every effort to meet critical project milestones according to schedule, while honoring company policies and state laws.

· Resources 
o Human
§ It is the Foreman’s responsibility to understand the abilities of his direct reports, to deploy those human resources according to ability, and to ensure the satisfactory quality of what they produce.
§ It is the Foreman’s responsibility to teach and develop (to the best his ability) those he supervises to increase their experience and capabilities leading to greater quality and independence.
o Financial
§ It is the Foreman’s responsibility to manage the financial instruments in his possession (i.e. credit cards, checks, cash) with integrity and according to SERVPRO policies and local laws in service to the profitability of the company.
§ It is the Foreman’s responsibility to keep accurate financial records, which means:
· Retaining and turning in receipts of purchase
· Designating which receipts and costs are associated with which customer/job
§ It is the Foreman’s responsibility to get permission from Construction Manager to execute unusual or unusually large purchases (e.g. new power tools or large quantities of materials)
o Physical
§ It is the Foreman’s responsibility to manage the physical in his possession (i.e. building materials, tools, vehicles, and trailers)with integrity, according to SERVPRO policies and local laws, in service to the profitability of the company
· Project Production and Progress
o The Foreman is the point-man on the job-site. It his is responsibility to carry out physically the project according to: 
§ Local, applicable building codes
§ The contract between SERVPRO and the customer leading to their satisfaction
§ The timelines established by Construction Manager
· Job-site Cleanliness and Care
o It is the Foreman’s responsibility to ensure that:
§ Job-sites (customers’ homes or place of business) are left very clean and organized at the end of every single day.
§ Crew members are conducting themselves in a way that is respectful to customers and customers’ homes. 
· Reporting/Communication
o It is the Foreman’s responsibility to:
§ Keep accurate (but not exhaustive) records of daily activities in which the crew is engaged.
§ To communicate project progress according scheduling or deviation from it.
§ To surface any unusual or particularly challenging issues that may arise during construction.
§ To communicate any changes in work-scope of each project.
o The Foreman shall report these records, information, and issues daily directly to the Construction Manager.
o It is also the Foreman’s responsibility to:
§ Keep cell phone available for communicating with team
§ Write down information critical to the execution of projects
