Schedule will be 2nd shift, 2:30pm-11:00pm Monday through Friday. Overtime eligible. Starting hourly rate from $21.84 to $32.75 based on experience and qualifications Opportunities for advancement with competitive pay above industry standards, full benefits, paid training, and tool allowances. Serco supports a large municipal and utility equipment fleet (4,000 units) performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repair of a diverse equipment set (light, medium and heavy-duty diesel/gas cars/trucks; off-road construction equipment, snow plows, ATVs, Motorcycles, Generators, VAC trucks, and ancillary equipment). You don’t want to miss this opportunity!

In this role, you will:

  • Perform tire inspections, repairs, changes.
  • Perform routine vehicle and equipment preventive maintenance inspections by conducting DOT inspections, inspect brakes for wear, check tire tread depths, check lights, check electrical components, replaces fluids, etc.
  • Perform operational and functional inspections, repairs and maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment
  • Perform inspections, repairs, and maintenance on a variety of powered, non-powered equipment, and vehicles
  • Ability to learn to work on a diverse equipment set, which includes mowers, cranes, backhoes, trailers, trenchers, bulldozers, excavators, wood chippers, asphalt laying equipment, diggers and pole setting equipment, aerial manlifts, cranes, medium and heavy trucks and mounted/non-mounted attachments.
  • Operate and perform diagnosis on equipment, maintain and repair hydraulic systems, routes and replaces hydraulic lines, check system for leaks and proper operation.
  • Perform diagnosis and repair of complex electrical systems.
  • Perform minor welding repairs when required.Provide clear and accurate information when entering work order data into a fleet maintenance system.
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Work under general supervision and is a self-starter. 
  • The list of duties does not include ALL duties that may be assigned to this position.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • At least 1 - 3 years of related experience inspecting, repairing, and changing tires on light duty vehicles, over the road (OTR) and off-road equipment (tractors, ATVs, skid-loaders, etc.)
  • At least 1 – 3 years of equipment preventative maintenance and repair experience on light duty vehicle and/or heavy on and off-road equipment (Automotive and/or Diesel training can be substituted for work experience)
  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Basic Windows System and Microsoft Office Knowledge
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers
  • Must possess necessary skills to operate and interpret diagnostic equipment
  • Candidates must provide common technician hand tools
  • ASE Certifications preferred or capable of gaining certifications within 12 months of hire.
  • This position is contingent upon your ability to pass a preemployment criminal history check and drug screen.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Class B CDL, unrestricted
  • Diesel or Automotive vocational/technical school diploma or certifications
  • Hydraulic experience preferred
  • Combination of Cummins, CAT, International, Allison, Vermeer, Sweeper, Ford, GM, etc. training/certification and/or 1 to 3 years of experience
  • Welding Certification and/or 1 to 3 years of experience
