Serco North America is Hiring a Remote Cyber Security Engineer

Position Description

The Navy Cybersecurity Engineer role will be on a dynamic team at our client’s site in Washington, D.C. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and safety of our sailors.

Serco is seeking an energetic self-starter who wants to be part of a ship building program to support the customer’s program office. Our team supports the customer in the design, construction, and test of the U.S. Navy’s new Fast Frigate warship. Reporting to the Serco Lead Cybersecurity Engineer, you will support the efforts to design, integrate, and test the myriad of IT systems being installed aboard the vessel.

This is a Hybrid position, however candidate will be required to be on site regularly.

In this role, you will:

  • Review and analyze technical documentation to ensure network architecture solutions support mission requirements and approved build specifications.
  • Support the organization and coordination of Guided Missile Frigate Cybersecurity Accreditation under guidance of Systems Integration and Test PAPM. This includes coordinating with the Shipbuilder, PARMs, PEO USC Cybersecurity Director and other external stakeholders to accredit and maintain the accreditation of the CFE networks/systems.
  • Advise government team on challenging technical issues, coordinate the use of technical resources across the organization on multi-disciplinary problems, and provide technical guidance and leadership to less-experienced engineers and other technical staff. Work within a peer group of senior technical staff to periodically review technical plans, results, and work products.
  • Perform engineering work in design, evaluation, planning, testing and accreditation in support of network architecture development and implementation.
  • Work within the team to prepare formal briefings to the U.S. Government staff and project sponsors; participate in technical discussions at program review sessions in accordance with direct taskings.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or equivalent degree is required with 8-10 yrs experience in related field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance post hire.
  • Experience in computer networking and/or cybersecurity accreditation through the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process. 
  • At least one professional certification required (e.g. CISM, CISSP, etc.). Candidates with high level of direct and relevant professional experience (and/or military service) will be required to attain requisite professional certification within 12 months following employment.
  • Familiarity with the Aegis Combat System is a plus.

Desired:

  • U.S. Navy veteran with at least one-year tour of duty aboard a U.S. Navy warship as an Information Systems Technician (IT).
