The Tennis Instructor will assist in the management and supervision of the retreat’s entire tennis operation and programs, creating a 6-star experience beyond a traditional tennis resort, bringing tennis to a level of intimacy and personalization similar to visiting a private country Manor Estate. The position reports to the Tennis Professional.

Responsibilities

• Provides tennis instruction
• Assists Tennis Professional with all tennis activities such as tennis clinics, instructional programs, employee management responsibilities and others
• Assists guests by providing and interpreting tennis policies, rules, and regulations
• Documents and keeps accurate records of all tennis court repair work
• Assists in the coordination of tournaments and special events; makes copies of tournament results and enters them into the retreats records
• Delivers a world-class tennis experience for all guests both on and off court
• Organizes charges and collects fees for all tennis-related activities.
• Ensures that all guests receive courteous, prompt, and professional attention to all their tennis needs
• Maintains records relating to player and guest rounds and other statistics
• Maintains visible presence on the tennis courts during peak times of play
• Maintains USPTA membership in good standing in an active classification
• Maintains and promotes a positive professional image within the community
• Ensures compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness standards
• Maintains a positive, upbeat demeanor and promotes and exemplifies Company values, departmental objectives, and interests to internal and external customers
• Follows up on complaints, questions, and concerns; responds to internal/external customer needs in a friendly, timely and efficient manner
• Develops and promotes teamwork and cooperation among co-workers
• Complies with established safe work practices and attends to all safety-related training provided or made available by the Company
• Due to the intimate nature of the resort with limited number of guests on property, must assist teams laterally across all departments to lead a seamless guest flow throughout the different resort spaces
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Associate degree or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Three to five years of tennis teaching experience
• Working knowledge and understanding of typical tennis court procedures, tournament operations, the rules of tennis, and playing ability
• Prior experience teaching lessons and offering classes to guests
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
• Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations
• Knowledge of a top-tier hospitality environment and ability to adapt such to an even higher, intimate luxury setting
• Requires reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language - additional language skills encouraged
• Certification with either U.S. Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) or Professional Tennis Registry (PTR)
