Your Role:

We are currently seeking an Intermediate-Senior Human Factors Engineer for our Pickering, Ontario office. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Responsibilities:

  • Human Factors (HF) Specialists apply the knowledge of human capabilities and limitations to the design of systems and equipment.
  • Human Factors Engineering ensures that the system and design are compatible with the sensory, perceptual, cognitive and physical attributes of the personnel who operate, maintain and support the system.
  • HF Specialists work as part of multi-discipline teams to analyze information and evaluate existing and proposed designs under the following frameworks: CNSC G-276, CNSC G-278, NUREG 0711 and CSA N290.12.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Engineering or Science specialising in Human Factors Engineering or related discipline (e.g. systems engineering)
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario or eligible for registration shortly
  • 7 years of related working experience in a design environment within the Canadian Nuclear Industry is considered an asset
  • Must be able to work as part of a multi-disciplined team
  • Must be able to obtain Canadian Federal security clearance
  • Well-developed technical writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks
  • Effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated experience of working in a collaborative team environment (e.g., share technical knowledge, mentor junior staff, contribute to healthy productive technical discussions on HF technical elements and methods, etc.)
  • Proven ability to be flexible, adaptable and work under tight schedules in a fast paced environment
  • Experience in an engineering consulting firm is considered an asset.
  • OPG or Bruce Power experience is considered an asset 

Additional Information

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)

If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational and security) and professional reference checks is required. Some Tetra Tech positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.
