Job Overview: Employee is responsible for the quality of their work. Meeting the requirements of an Entry, and Advanced welder, in addition to requirements for an Expert welder i.e. Fillet ,and Groove weld test on dissimilar materials, ferrous, and non-ferrous, positions, and multi process. Their goal is to achieve zero defects for our products by producing visually & sound quality welds with the use of fixtures, Bluco set-ups, and work instructions including the ability to assemble, fit, and weld fixtures (including pic-offs) for 1^st run PPAP samples. Mentoring and set-up of Entry, and Advanced level personal to insure weld quality is achieved.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Welding (The weld being produced shall be made with-in the parameters, and variables of the WPS summary, or in a specific work instruction.)
Conformation of weld size & spacing (Use of weld gauges & tape measure to verify that the weld is the correct size, and the increments in stiches are with-in tolerance)
Work Instruction (Compliance to detailed work instructions i.e. joint preparation, weld passes, weld stringers & tacks for Robotic & Manual weld quality)
Visual inspection of Welds & Tacks (All welds & tacks being produced need to be visually conforming, excessive spatter removal)
Welding position (The positioning of the part to comply with the welders qualifications) Note: all Welding shall be done in the Flat or Horizontal position unless otherwise stated in a specific work instruction and the welder shall be qualified to the specified position.
Weld Symbol identification (The ability to identify the weld being produced on the print, Size, Type, Location, and increments).
Mentoring of Entry & Advanced level weld personal to insure weld quality is achieved on 1^st time set-ups.
House Keeping Following preventative welding machine maintenance and practicing general housekeeping.
Safety Follow facility safety guidelines, in addition to welding safety rules.

Drive continuous improvement.
Provide analytical problem solving and process troubleshooting support.
Other duties as assigned by Management.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Completion of Defect & Discontinuity Training / Testing (required 80% passing minimum)
Completion of a passing GMAW (mig) Fillet weld test in the 2F (horizontal position) 1 of the smallest size, and 1 of the largest size used in production. Including dissimilar materials, ferrous, and non-ferrous.
Completion of a passing GMAW (mig) Groove weld test in the 2G, or 3G (horizontal position) or ( Vertical up }
Completion of a passing GTAW (Tig) Fillet weld test in the 5F (Flat, Horizontal, Vertical, and Overhead position) including dissimilar materials, ferrous, and non-ferrous.
Completion of Expert Print, weld geometry & weld symbol Training / Testing (required 78% passing minimum)
The ability to produce production parts from a fixture, Bluco set-up & work instruction.)
The ability to produce pre-production parts i.e. Dimensional lay out from print, 1^st time Bluco set-up, and Tack / Weld sequencing.
The ability to assemble, fit, and weld fixtures (including pic-offs) for 1^st run PPAP samples, and make correction, or alterations with the direction of Quality and Engineering if needed.
Must have ability to multitask.
Must have a high attention to detail.
Team oriented attitude.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma required.
Previous 5 yrs. experience in welding field.
Welding Trade school diploma a plus.
An AWS C.W.A.I, or Welding Certification a plus

Other Requirements:

ISO 9001 & 14001 Awareness Training.
Emergency Response Plan Training.
PWI requirements fulfilled.

Physical Demand:

Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Position requires frequent bending, twisting, lifting, and standing for prolonged periods of time.
Must pass AWS visual test criteria (Annual near vision acuity of Jaeger J-2).
