Security Benefit (SB) is seeking an Actuarial Assistant III with relevant work experience to work with the GAAP team in its Valuation Actuarial Department. Security Benefit fosters strong partnerships to provide insightful and customized retirement solutions for employers and individual investors nationwide. Through a broad advisor network and its nationally recognized money managers, Security Benefit provides mutual funds, annuities and retirement programs. This Assistant will work in our Topeka, Kansas or Overland Park, Kansas office. A remote position will be considered for the right candidate. SB associates are working in a hybrid environment with both remote and on-site work.

The associate contributes to the management and financial success of annuity and retirement products by performing GAAP modeling, attribution analysis, analyzing in-force business, and performing model testing duties. Candidates must possess strong programming, financial and analytical skills and be able to successfully work with the Model Development, Finance, and Pricing Departments in support of a variety of actuarial initiatives.

Candidates must possess strong programming, financial and analytical skills and be able to successfully work with the Model Development, Finance, and Pricing Departments in support of a variety of actuarial initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform mathematical and financial calculations
- Provide support for GAAP modeling initiatives
- Support preparation of annual statements and reports
- Building reports/analysis and automation from data repository
- Interpret and analyze model results from actuarial software systems
- Test model enhancements, including regression and unit testing
- Perform other tasks as assigned
- Running actuarial modeling software
- Bachelor’s degree with major or minor in Actuarial Science or Mathematics
- The Actuarial Assistant III is in pursuit of the ASA designation and has completed and passed 4-5 exams
- Minimum of two years of actuarial experience
- Experience with actuarial software required (Prophet, CASE, MG-Alpha, MG-Triton, etc.),
- Strong computer skills including Excel and actuarial software
- Strong problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries
- Experience in the valuation / financial reporting area, GAAP preferred
- Prophet experience preferred
- Coding experience in SQL, VBA, Python, etc. preferred
- Annuity (VA, FA, FIA) and/or Life GAAP Modeling experience preferred
