As an integral member of senior management, you will be overseeing the daily activity of the Accounting Department. You are a Controller, yet so very much more: you are an expert in both accounting and people. You will manage, lead, and mentor the accounting staff ensuring that all activities are performed in compliance with Credit Union standards, policies, and regulatory standards. You will support the CFO in ALM, investing functions and other special projects as assigned. You will pay excellent attention to detail while demonstrating a strong sense of duty and commitment to meet or exceed project timelines. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Ensure completion of monthly management reports by using an efficient closing process and providing analytical support. Maintain a clean General Ledger through proactive reconciliation processes. Coordinate all aspects of accounting to ensure compliance with GAAP, GAAS, RAAP, tax, 5300 Reporting and other regulatory rules and internal policies. Research complex accounting issues, providing direction and/ or recommendations to management as necessary. Oversee Accounting staff and operational needs such as hiring, training, reviewing, scheduling and other duties. Provide input and direction on staff training and development to ensure a qualified and professional staff to meet the future needs of the Credit Union. Support the annual budget process and strategic plan financial projections. Assist in the design, development and implementation of required accounting systems, procedures and controls. Prepare and delegate special projects requested by the Chief Financial Officer. Develop and assure strong supportive relationships with all departments and branches to ensure collaboration and problem solving. Assist outside auditors and state examiners by providing information and analysis as needed. Support, and promote Credit Union products and services. Hold regular staff meetings to communicate schedules, objectives, and to promote quality service to internal and external clients. Support and drive team development around credit union mission, vision and values. WHAT YOU WILL BRING: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and / or Finance. Detailed knowledge of GAAP and regulatory accounting requirements as they pertain to financial institutions. Five to ten years demonstrated ability in financial institution accounting (three of which are in a management capacity). Minimum of 2 years as a people manager. Preferred previous engagement with minority and / or underserved communities. Knowledge (and experience) with core data processing systems and personal computers. A CPA or MBA is desirable. Leadership Superior Management Skills. Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills across all levels of leadership. Experience working both independently and in collaboration with teams to drive results. Integrate a perspective of diversity, equity and inclusion to resolve challenges and remove obstacles that inhibit engagement and high-quality work from team members. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. High level of attention to detail. Financial Institution background. Open-mindedness and an empathetic mentality with a desire to support our mission. Working Conditions: Daily work is remote. Equipment for remote work will be provided. The position is based in Seattle, WA. Occasional travel to headquarters based in Seattle, WA and branch offices in the greater Seattle area is a requirement of the position. Team members may attend special off-hour meetings and seminars. The nature of work may include prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
