Scout Clean Energy is Hiring an Accounts Payable Specialist Near Boulder, CO

As an Accounts Payable Specialist with Scout Clean Energy, you will play an integral role in building a tightly knit and highly productive team. You will be responsible for interfacing with vendors, purchase orders, processing invoices, mailing checks, and a variety of accounting tasks on firm timelines. Throughout the day, you will interface with the Accounting team members as well as other departments to complete the required tasks at hand. The Accounts Payable Specialist reports directly to Accounts Payable Manager.

The ideal candidate will seek to master the tasks initially assigned to them while maintaining a growth mindset, stepping in to support others on the team with new responsibilities as they emerge. To start, the Accounts Payable Specialist will have the following responsibilities:

  • Solicit and secure approval from managers for expenses and invoices
  • Code invoices, vouchers, expense reports, check requests, etc.
  • Correspond with vendors via phone or email.
  • Match corresponding purchase orders to incoming invoices with supporting documentation.
  • Investigate and resolve problems with processing of invoices and purchase orders.
  • Prepare batch check runs, wire transfers, and ACH transactions.
  • Assist with monthly status reports, and monthly closings.
  • Process remittance information from checks, drafts and wire transfers.
  • File, maintain, and distribute accounting documents.
  • Archive payment records with record retention specifications
  • Coordinate and file annual 1099s
  • Ensure vendor documentation (e.g., W-9) is current and compliant
  • Ad hoc assignments and special projects as required.

Work Experience and Skill Set:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • At least three years of experience in an Accounts Payable role
  • Demonstrated experience with key software systems:
    • Required: Working experience with accounting systems and the Microsoft Office suite and with ERP systems.
    • Optional: Experience with SAGE 300CRE, Sage Paperless, and SAP Concur are a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience with collaborating on operational procedures.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational and deadline-driven time management skills

Timeline and Location

The target start date for this role is early November 2023, pending successful reference and background checks.

The AP Specialist role will be based in our Boulder, CO office and will work in the office at least three days per week on our hybrid schedule.

Target base salary: $50,000 – 60,000. Negotiable for the right candidate.
