Editorial Director, Digital

Let’s see what’s in your toolbox 

  •  Develop and execute the editorial strategy for a website redesign featuring home design, home improvement, and affiliate commerce content.
  • Use audience data and insights to develop a deep understanding of our audience and competitive landscape to craft editorial strategy that drives business results.
  • Write, edit, and commission home category content that inspires, educates, and empowers people to improve their everyday life at home, including TV episode recaps.
  • Work with partners in marketing, PR, and social media to craft materials and messaging that represent our brands and celebrity voice of our founders, Drew and Jonathan Scott.
  • Create and execute content marketing strategies to promote our lines of home products (Scott Living and Drew and Jonathan Home).
  • Ensure SBG messaging, both online and offline, maintains a consistent voice and integrity in all copy including product information and partner content.
  • Partner with colleagues in affiliate commerce to analyze performance data and optimize content to drive revenue.
  • Leverage SEO best practices and data insights to optimize content performance.
  • Grow and manage a freelancer network, with a focus on affiliate commerce writers.
  • Collaborate with digital colleagues on promotion plans across social media, SEO, and newsletters to grow traffic and audience.
  • Create editorial calendars, workflows, and ensure effective cross-team communications.
  • Identify photography needs and commission new shoots or license photos.
  • Work with the VP, Digital to identify growth opportunities in the ecommerce space.

Blueprints for success with SBG

  • Education: BS/BA, preferably in English, Journalism, Marketing, or equivalent experience 
  • 6 years of experience in creating content for a digital media company
  • Experience creating and optimizing affiliate commerce content to drive revenue
  • Experience managing and growing a network of freelancers
  • A strong communicator comfortable with leading strategies to execution and working collaboratively
  • Excellent organization and project management skills with experience using Asana or similar project management software

Add a few personal touches

  • Strong understanding of SEO best practices
  • Keeps abreast of digital media and ecommerce trends and innovations
  • Analytical with experience using data analytic tools like Google Analytics to track KPIs and create insights to drive strategy
  • Experience using content management systems like WordPress
