Position Summary:

The Sanitation Supervisor oversees all sanitation and janitorial related duties and other various general labor tasks for the facility. Ensures conformance to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's). Communicates technical points of course content and demonstrates the capability to answer unexpected questions of sanitation related materials. Serves as subject matter expert on sanitation and tools used by the sanitation team. Supports the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures per GFSI guidelines in a food processing establishment.

Essential Duties:

  • Direct cleaning of equipment and work areas.
  • Inspect premises for unsanitary practices and conditions.
  • Confer with Supervisors and Team Members on sanitation problems, and recommends changes in equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation, or work practices to improve sanitation standards.
  • Ensure adherence to procedures, including CGMP, BRC, and validates all required reports regarding regular inspections, sanitation violations, and root cause analysis outlining steps required to resolve deficiencies.
  • Interpret company policies to team members and enforces safety regulations.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and validate job standards needed to perform those tasks.
  • Confer with supervisors to coordinate activities of individual department cleaning needs.
  • Develop and maintain sanitation and cleaning requirements by entering schedules within Tabware (sanitation software)
  • Coach, counsel, and discipline employees in a fair and consistent manner in accordance with the Union contract and the Company's policies, procedures, and work rules with the partnership of Human Resources.
  • Participates, implements and provides leadership of Employee Safety, Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and departmental cost goals.
  • Manage operations to comply with all applicable safety, food safety and environmental laws and regulations, as well as Company safety policies, food safety and quality procedures and standards.
  • Understand and comply with all HACCP and CGMP requirements and processes.
  • Understand and comply with RSPO and organic programs.
  • Other duties as assigned

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree; OR High school diploma or state issued equivalency plus 4 years of production, operations or sanitation experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 4 years of supervisory/managerial experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility
  • Manufacturing experience with candy, food, Beverage, or confections is required.
  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred
  • Requires excellent oral, written, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions is required.
  • Ability to manage employees and resolve personnel issues professionally is required.
  • Must be available to work all shifts and weekends as required.
  • Requires operation knowledge of computer software (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, Sage X3 etc.)
  • Ability to work flexible work schedules.

The pay for this role in the state of CA ranges from $64,480 to $80,000 per year based on years of experience, position responsibilities and geographic location.
