Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative, and detail-oriented individual for a Software Engineering Internship with our R&D Automation department in Lynnwood, WA. You will be working with senior developers and experienced power-system subject-matter-experts to drive continuous improvement of the development, internal tooling, deployment, and support of the SEL Blueframe application platform. As a Software Engineer Intern, a typical day might include the following: 1. Support SEL’s software development process 2. Verify that software meets requirement 3. Implement firmware/software design 4. Provide support to engineering staff as needed 5. Follow engineering quality assurance procedure This job might be for you if you possess the following: Current student pursuing a degree in computer science or equivalent with at least one year of technical coursework completed Ability to work part time during the school year and full time during the summer Programming experience with client-side languages and frameworks (Ex:Typescript and React), or desktop applications Ability to execute and document defined testing procedures Preferred Qualifications Experience using scripting languages, such as Python and Bash Practical knowledge of developing full-stack applications with an understanding of communication architectures and patterns in both the browser and the server Knowledge of Virtual Machines (ex: VMware, Hyper-V) Knowledge of Containerization technology (Ex: Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes) Experience using version control and source code management systems, (Ex: Bitbucket, Github, Gitlab etc..) and associated issue-tracking (Ex: Jira) Location Lynnwood, WA Competitive pay.
