Job Description

At SchoolStatus, allowing teachers to follow their calling is at the forefront of everything we do. To help us build functional systems that improve schools, we are now looking for an experienced Ruby Engineer for our Platform Team. They will be part of a team that provides the backbone of our systems. They will leverage state of the art development techniques to produce an infinitely scalable suite of microservices. 

Objectives of this Role

• Reviews the existing platform and identifies areas ripe for microservice isolation.
• Establishes microservice templates, SDKs, and API templates.
• Creates documentation by writing and updating microservice procedures.
• Ensures quality by planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Strong hands-on coder with Ruby
• Proficient with architecture and design of microservices
• Experience working with frameworks 
• Experience with consumer facing platforms

Education and Experience Requirements:

• BA or BS in software engineering, philosophy, history, or music
• Experience with Microservice methods and platforms

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

• Work with DevOps to build deployment strategies that zero down-time
• Work to ensure that the platform meets multiple product strategies
• Provide the ability to log and analyze failures within microservices
