ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, which are to be performed accurately, efficiently, within company safety and quality standards, and within required time frames as needed. Use hand-tools, ratchets, air tools, or other devices to secure parts and fixtures Use hoist, pallet jacks or forklift to move parts, material, containers, and fixtures to and from storage areas and machinery Train personnel on operations of the ALL CNC machinery, robotics automation, or tool setting Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of the finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills and lathes Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media. Adjusts the running program or makes updates to programs as needed Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required. Work with the engineering, tooling technician, and outside vendors for tooling issues or new tooling ideas Troubleshoots tooling problems; communicates issues to engineering and tooling technician; resolves or escalates problem for resolution Sets troublesome tools for the operators and mentor operators on repeatable practices Repairs fixture and components after normal wear and crashes Modify cutting programs to account for problems encountered during operation and save modified programs Implement changes to machine programs and enter new specifications Calculate machine speed and feed ratios and the size and position of cut Sets up and operates the machine on test runs or PPAP to verify the accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data. Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance. Performs fixture, pallet, and tooling offsets for CMM accuracy Load and unload parts Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures Performs set up activities such as mount, install, align, secure tools, attachments, fixtures, chucks, and workpieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments Stop machines to remove finished workpieces or to change tooling, setup, or workpiece placement, according to required machining sequences Insert part programs into machine control Monitor machine operation and control panel displays and compare readings to specifications to detect malfunctions Proactively works with team members to ensure their cell achieves OEE targets Works with engineering and tooling technician to determine tool life of tooling to ensure efficiency of operation and minimization of scrap Troubleshoots machining problems; communicates issues to engineering and supervisors; resolves or escalates problem for resolution Performs Coolant audits and monitors sump conditions Perform quality checks, including statistical sampling, process capability monitoring Run first piece, inspect, and obtain Quality Department approval at set up Follow safety regulations; keep work areas and equipment clean and orderly using 5S standards May perform other duties as assigned and extend into other areas as needed Flexibility to work overtime as required Perform tasks in a timely and accurate manner KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Ability to use a variety of gauges Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships Ability to work effectively in independent situations and exercise good judgment to reach sound conclusions Ability to use Kanban workflow for optimal build performance Must demonstrate strong analytical/problem-solving skills and time management skills Must demonstrate strong verbal communication skills Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, schedules, rules, procedures, etc. Ability to read, interpret, and perform from various documents, including method sheets, assembly drawings, production reports, blueprints, printed shop schedules, Kanban cards/boards, operating maintenance instruction and procedure manuals, etc. Ability to properly identify components and gain extensive parts knowledge Ability to identify and obtain appropriate parts for workstation operation Ability to judge distances, spatial relationships, and perform visual and/or mechanical inspections; ability to distinguish colors and finishes Knowledge of Fanuc controls and the Allen Bradley HMI utilized throughout LCN Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming Intermediate math and computer skills; ability to use the AS400 computer application Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment, including micrometers and calipers Ability to perform jobs at the same or lower labor grade than current job PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity; ability to use fingers and hands to feel, handle, or squeeze; reach with hands and arms; twist/turn body; perform repetitive motions Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit, frequently and for extended periods of time Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl Ability to continuously lift to 5 pounds, frequently lift to 25 pounds, occasionally lift to 60 pounds, and rarely lift over 60 pounds. Any lifts over 35 pounds should be done with assistance.
