POSITION SUMMARY:

The Accountant is a part of the corporate accounting team which is responsible for the Company’s financial and accounting activities, including financial reporting, monthly close, accounts receivable and accounts payable management, 401-K support, payroll support and other projects as defined:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Review/perform general ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data, and report, identify, and correct errors or discrepancies

· Prepares, analysis and reviews monthly P&L’s. Conducts monthly P&L reviews with operations staff.

· Prepares, audits, balances and reconciles accounting records and journal entries.

· Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of fiscal policies, procedures and practices.

· Documents policies and procedures; and performs research as needed.

· Ensures accurate completion of forms requiring payroll data in compliance with Company and government guidelines, tax laws as well as accounting reporting policies and procedures.

· Conducts internal audits as required.

· Ensures that all required licenses are current.

· Maintains appropriate benefits records and updates insurance carrier information as needed. Produces insurance census as needed.

· May assume responsibility for the operation of the accounting department in the absence of the Controller.

· Performs various related clerical duties and prepares reports and audits as necessary.

· Manage accounting entries (purchases, cost of sales, G&A, accruals, allocations, etc.)

· Answers time coding and invoicing questions by researching and interpreting data

· Responsible for effectively researching, tracking and resolving invoicing errors and discrepancies

· Reviews and processes expense reports

· Updates and maintains employee information in the accounting system

· Completes all accounting functions in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures

· Assists the Controller by providing analytical support and handling special projects, as needed

· Oversee monthly billing and follow-up on outstanding balances; ensure that all invoices are prepared for the month by appropriate biller.

· Monitor and manage vendor or contractor invoices.

· Maintain current knowledge of firm policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives and current accounting standard.

· Maintain confidentiality on all financial and firm matters.

· Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.

· A minimum of 5 years or prior experience.

· Preferred experience processing payroll.

· Research and compliance skills.

· Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

· Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel

· ADP and HRIS software experience preferred.

· CPA license or progress towards licensure preferred.

· Must maintain confidentiality at all times.

· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential, coupled with the utmost attention to detail.

· Self-motivated, dependable and able to work with minimal supervision

· Ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously with regular interruptions

· Applies principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

· Demonstrates strong organization skills and attention to detail

· Works professionally using courtesy and tact with a wide variety of individuals in person, via telephone, and in writing

· Completes tasks effectively within a reasonable amount of time

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
