THE POSITION
The primary area of responsibility will be
• Process month end closing, including the reconciliation of general ledger accounts,
for two separate operating companies and one holding entity
• Manage monthly payroll for Chicago and Puerto Rico offices, including the
administration of transit benefits, health care deductions and 401k submissions
• Provide direct oversight to local accounting team, ensuring all AR/AP invoices are
properly entered
• Responsible for ensuring vendor payments are processed in accordance with
company policies
• Coordinate all auditor and tax accountant inquiries and requests for timely completion
of financial statements and tax filings
• Ensure that all accounting processes and procedures are performed in compliance
with US GAAP and other regulatory bodies, such as the National Futures Association
and U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission
• Perform annual regulatory filings in accordance with the National Futures Association
guidelines
Secondary areas include not limited to:
• Responsible for the management of the Chicago office, including health care
administration and renewals, compliance with labor laws, and maintaining landlord
relationships
• Assist with planning and organizing company events
• Annual preparation of 1099s and Informative Returns
• Work with associates across all divisions, departments locations to answer questions
or research issues
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and competencies:
• Solid understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP),
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) a plus
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are required
• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics and consolidated reporting a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in recording of journal entries, auditing and reconciliation of accounts
• Strong organizational, time management and working under pressure skills
• Results-oriented with personal accountability
• Excellent attention to detail, quality and control
• A self-starter, able to work on own initiative with a willingness to take responsibility
• Capable of delivering information in an efficient manner
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field of study
• 5 years of multifaceted accounting experience
• CPA a plus
• Both public and corporate accounting experience preferred
