POSITION SUMMARY:

The Accounting Manager reports to the Controller. Assists the Controller with the daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly operations of the Accounting team. Maintains and controls the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records. Directs and supervises general accounting staff including accounts payable.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages accounting staff in the day-to-day operations of one or more accounting functions, including accounts payable.
• Oversees calculating, posting, and verification of financial data for use in maintaining financials and accounting records.
• Ensures the accuracy of entries and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
• Analyzes budget/forecast to actual variance reports.
• Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending and implementing changes.
• Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
• Provides accounting support for mergers/conversions and acquisitions by reviewing financial information and converting data to the general ledger system.
• Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential. 
• Other Ad Hoc duties and research as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 5 years’ experience as a manager or supervisor in an accounting or finance related field
• Strong written, verbal, and overall strong communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Review balance sheet, general ledger accounts, and income statement schedules
• Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships at all levels of staff in the organization
• Ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines
• Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures
• Willingness and ability to direct and lead the work of other team members

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to sit in office chair in a conventional office environment for extended periods. No exhaustive physical activity required.
