If so, we may have the opportunity for you! We have an awesome opportunity for a Human Resources Manager based in one of the following locations; Salt Lake City, UT or Houston, TX. In this role, you will be responsible for administration, coordination and evaluation of human resources (People Solutions) functions in support of the Operating locations, Regions, Units, and People Solutions objectives. This role will serve as an adviser to employees (Team Members), front-line Team Leaders, and other leadership on People Solutions related issues. The position formulates partnerships as a field representative for the People Solutions Group. The successful Human Resources (People Solutions) Manager will deliver value-added service to leadership and Team Members that reflects the business objectives of the respective business and organization. They will assess and anticipate People-related needs, communicating needs pro-actively with respective leaders and People Solutions team. You will also be responsible for a full range of generalist duties including, but not limited to; Team Member engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion, leadership development, labor relations, succession planning, coaching, recruiting/staffing support, on-boarding, employee relations, training, EEO, compensation, and benefit administration. This role will collaborate closely with other People Group resources as needed. This position will have remote flexibility as well office at one of Savage’s Salt Lake City, UT or Houston, TX locations. This position reports to the Sr. Director, People Solutions located in Salt Lake City, UT, but will be expected to travel to operations as necessary in many locations inside and outside of their area of coverage or where exposure to various operating conditions may occur. (High focus on Texas, Gulf South, and Intermountain West operations). Own the front-line support and be a champion of Team Member engagement and diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy and initiatives Responsible for providing guidance in Team Member relations issues, coaching and counseling, documentation of Team Member performance, and termination procedures Champion the Savage Culture. Serve as the pulse of Team Member morale and engagement for management. Understand the needs of the Team Members and what can be done to ensure Team Members are treated fairly Teams with business leaders in addressing employee and labor relations issues Conducts ethics and policy investigations as assigned Provides leadership and takes appropriate ownership of performance management, including leadership development and data management to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization Partners closely with Talent Acquisition to ensure an effective recruitment process Assists in managing workers compensation and unemployment claims, EEOC, labor relations, and state/federal government compliance requirements Communicates with leadership and Team Members to answer questions, clarify policies and processes, create solutions, and resolve issues or conflicts accurately and promptly Supports company initiatives and communicates to leadership and Team Members as appropriate Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning. Recommend career development, job rotation, and other training plans to extend Team Members and Leaders skills and competencies. Participates in special projects for Business Units and People Solutions Groups as needed Works closely with front-line leaders and Team Members to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention Evaluates reports, decisions and results of initiatives in relation to established goals. Provides People (HR) policy guidance and interpretation Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements Delivers targeted leadership and/or Team Member training Bachelor degree in business, Human Resources or related discipline is required; Master’s degree is strongly preferred Seven plus years’ experience working as an HR Generalist or Business Partner with progressive levels of responsibility SHRM-CP or PHR preferred Experience in supporting an industrial, manufacturing, supply chain, transportation or logistics industry is preferred Labor law knowledge and experience working with unionized workforces is preferred Extensive employment law knowledge and experience Innovative thinker with strong analytical and problem solving skills A background that includes knowledge and understanding of corporate policies and best practices as well as mid-level knowledge of HR – evidenced by detailed experience coaching and counseling managers, is required The People Solutions Manager must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook with the ability to develop and run basic reports out of databases and execute projects as may be assigned Ability to travel 25% or more is required Savage is an innovative supply-chain solutions company.
