Job Summary
The Department Manager must possess the background and technical aptitude as it relates to food manufacturing sanitation programs, chemical handling, and Safety Food programs. General knowledge of Food and environmental microbiological testing, sanitary design, automated sanitation (CIP), and COP (Clean out of Place) boiling techniques.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Manages the daily activities of assigned staff, provides instructions and feedback to ensure that cleaning, productivity, and quality objectives are met or exceeded
Maintains and oversees sanitation team member schedules, performance, and documentation
Review and maintain sanitation chemical and equipment inventory
Ensure the plant is cleaned daily and ready to start production on time
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve team and equipment problems.
Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring Chemical, LOTO, and Alchemy training.
Ensure that the company food safety guidelines are implemented daily
Maintain excellent communication with the Sanitation team, peers, and members of management
Train and set goals for the sanitation crew
Participate/assist in audits, and facility inspections and coordinate pre-operational inspection/Swabbing with QC Management
Clearly communicate expectations to sanitation employees. Provide staff with guidance, coaching, and support necessary to perform their jobs effectively and accurately.
Be a positive role model by demonstrating an enthusiastic and respectful approach toward team members and the job.
Drive Continuous improvement projects through 5S, 8step problem solving, Etc.
Maintain a working knowledge of sanitation systems and equipment
