Sanford Health has an opening for a Palliative Care physician to provide medical care to patients of Sioux Falls, SD and the surrounding area.

POSITION DUTIES: Provide medical care to adult patients through preventing and alleviating suffering and improving a patient’s quality of life. Work with a palliative care team to maximize the quality of life while addressing the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of both patient and family throughout the course of the disease, including through the dying process and subsequent family grieving. Will assess patients with advanced disease and catastrophic injury, seek to relieve distressing symptoms, coordinate interdisciplinary patient and family-centered care, use specialized care systems such as hospice, and manage the medical needs of the dying patient.

EDUCATION: Medical degree or foreign equivalent in Medicine

TRAINING: 12 month Palliative Care fellowship. Number of months of training required is dependent upon the number of months necessary to complete medical training leading to completion of a fellowship program in Palliative Care.

LICENSE: South Dakota state medical license or ability to obtain. BC/BE
