SANDIA LABORATORY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION is Hiring a Network Administrator Near Albuquerque, NM

Description

Responsible for the administration, support and maintenance of all enterprise-wide network based- systems. This includes on-premise equipment, cloud hosted services, and any network related systems. Performs a variety of duties in supporting information systems and technology support to SLFCU departments. Ensures all network based systems are configured in compliance with all applicable policies. Twenty-four hour availability required, when needed. Coordinates network infrastructure changes, expansions, upgrades, and troubleshooting. Maintains operating stability and efficiency and ensures the security of network infrastructure. Monitors, documents, tests and updates relevant policies, procedures, hardware performance issues, security and planned system changes. Provides technical guidance and second level support and training for help desk issues pertaining to network changes, network projects, and other related technology questions.

 

Job Duties:

  • Support and manage network based systems. Troubleshoot, resolve and document system hardware, software and communication problems.
  • Coordinate systems changes, expansions and upgrades.
  • Administer network-level security procedures. Act as technical liaison for network detection and monitoring systems.
  • Perform network administration functions for the interoperating LAN/WAN, including the maintenance of network functionality.
  • Act as technical liaison for Internet Service Provider (ISP) issues to troubleshoot DNS, certificate and internet service issues.
  • Act as technical contact for both external and internal point to point data circuits. Manage in-house wiring. Monitor and document circuit locations and detail. Troubleshoot network issues 24/7 for SLFCU and affiliated vendors. Act as technical contact for microwave data circuits. Configure and manage data capacity for both data and voice network traffic.
  • Support other teams in day-to-day server and second level workstation operations by ensuring network stability.
  • Manage and monitor proper licensing for all network systems. Track and update software and service maintenance renewals.
  • Research and recommend solutions to technology needs compatible with the Credit Union’s technology architecture, infrastructure and resource constraints.
  • Interface with the accounting department to tag, track and dispose of network assets.
  • Install, configure, deploy and test network- related packages.
  • Provide support and assistance to SLFCU users and help desk team to troubleshoot and document technical-related issues.
  • Perform risk analysis. Interface with internal and external auditors and security consultants on an ongoing basis to measure, test and provide resolution on all network- related vulnerabilities.
  • Perform other network expertise- related duties as assigned by management. 
  • Able to remain agile and shift between projects, as required.

Requirements

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Minimum one to two years’ experience as a network administrator/engineer, including hardware, IOS, and all TCP/IP industry standards. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the following:
  • Network system architectures surrounding the CISCO platforms 
  • Network software and hardware installations and upgrades
  • Network architectures, topologies, and protocols
  • Principles, practices and methods of network administration and maintenance, including configuration, operation of network systems, security, performance tuning and techniques for layout and design
  • Internet/Intranet technologies and design concepts and techniques
  • Thorough understanding of security practices, firewall, switching, and router configurations
  • Connectivity testing and network analysis and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of HTML and web server configuration desired.
  • Basic knowledge of Credit Union products and services, features, and benefits.

Education:

  • Associate’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience. Bachelor’s degree in related field desired.
  • Certification as a certified network administrator, preferred (CCNA, CCNP, COMPTIA Network , etc.).

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface effectively with staff and management.
  • Functions well within departmental and cross-functional teams. Able to work proactively with team members in developing and achieving a common goal.

Communication:

  • Possesses excellent verbal and written technical communication skills.
  • Able to explain technical concepts clearly and succinctly to others.
  • Able to teach and train network use and software skills.
  • Able to thoroughly document network changes and resolutions.

Other Skills:

  • Able to perform critical thinking and problem solving with or without specific directions and instructions.
  • Able to provide effective closure to technical problems with excellent service.
  • Possesses good organizational and time management skills, including the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks effectively. Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible; able to work weekends and extended hours, as needed.
