About the role...

As demand for the company’s platform continues to increase, so does SVT’s demand for high performers to help chart the course towards rapid growth and expansion. Currently they are seeking a talented VP of Finance to join the executive team and lead the organization’s financial operations and growth strategy. The ideal candidate has the experience and aptitude to contribute to overall company strategy, further develop and operationalize our financial and administrative management, execute effectively to plans, and play a highly influential role in the company. In this role, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for all aspects related to accounting, financial reporting and planning, including the development and continuous improvement of processes and systems to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of costing, financial results and forecasts as well as involvement in the daily operations.

As the VP of Finance, you will be responsible for:

  • Assuming immediate responsibility for execution of the Company’s financial strategic plan, with a specific focus on where to play, how to get there, and how to win.
  • Collaborating with the CEO and department leaders to design and execute on key initiatives and plans to build the business.
  • Adding and enhancing our system of policies, internal controls, standards, and procedures for all day-to-day operations and administration.
  • Planning, coordinating, and executing the annual budget process, while continually evaluating and driving improvements across finance operations.
  • Ensuring that the company is adhering to the strategic plan by preparing and delivering status updates to the CEO and Board.
  • Overseeing leases, payroll, contracts, consulting agreements, and vendor relationships.
  • Participating and supporting meetings with potential investors.
  • Partnering with the executive team, CEO and Board in our post-Series A valuation maximization and post-break even capital fundraising strategy for further expansion.
  • Act as a thought partner to our CEO and senior leadership on matters related to the company’s financial health, providing analytical insights and recommendations.
  • Continuously work to improve the accuracy and relevance of all financial data and reporting.
  • Own the preparation of all financial statements, to include building and delivering monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages for external distribution.
  • Develop and deliver internal reporting packages for senior executives and department-level leadership (e.g., weekly cash flow summaries, monthly budget-to-actual comparison, etc.).
  • Work with the Strategic Finance team to develop reporting around financial and operational performance metrics, including SaaS-specific KPIs.

As a member of the SVT leadership team, you will:

  • Demonstrate a passion for values alignment, open communication, strategic focus, simplicity, and clarity across the organization in collaboration with the CEO and other key stakeholders.
  • Participate in industry thought leadership, discussions, and events helping key markets bridge gaps in their understanding of the SVT model and how it compares to traditional service options.
  • Champion company core values and foster a healthy organizational culture.

As SVT’s VP of Finance, you must have:

  • The willingness to relocate to Norfolk, VA and work onsite at SVT headquarters.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Bonus points for an advanced degree and/or CPA certification.
  • Tenure working in a venture backed B2B SaaS organization.
  • Demonstrated experience and proven results as the senior finance leader in your previous role(s); previous group VP of Finance work experience is a must.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional peers to develop and execute innovative strategies.
  • Overseen the development of a financial strategy and roadmap that realized significant business goals.
  • Expertise in accrual basis financial reporting, strong financial analysis skills.
  • An ability to lead and strategize AND “roll-up sleeves” as we continue to build out our team – including tactical tasks such as reconciling monthly books, preparing taxes, managing AP and AR, etc.
  • Knowledge of debt and equity/cap table presentation and demonstrated expertise in building board presentations
  • Innate ability to manage multiple competing priorities, stay organized, and adapt to new situations. Must be practiced in smoothly and quickly moving between tactical output and strategic thinking.

The ideal candidate for this role should also have:

  • VP level experience in accounting or finance roles at venture-backed startups.
  • The ambition and desire to operate as a CFO.
  • The professional track record of fiscal responsibility and experience with best practices in accounting, internal controls, budget, finance and business.
  • Experience managing and scaling a team of finance, accounting and HR professionals
  • Strong prioritization skills rooted in an understanding of core outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all level of stakeholders (from interns to executives, investors, and board members).
  • Confidence to provide regular advice to senior leadership, and to push back when needed.
  • Experience moving from Quickbooks to NetSuite.
  • Awareness of logistics, manufacturing, or industrial technology.
