San Francisco Community Health Center is Hiring a Remote Therapist (Part-time) - Remote or in-person

 

Position Description: 

The therapist is part of a multidisciplinary team that includes medical providers, nurses, medical assistants, social workers, case managers, and peer advocates. The position requires a graduate-level degree and registration with the BBS to collect hours towards licensure or a professional license. This position is responsible for providing therapy services to the agency’s clients who are trying to manage their mental health and substance use. This position will have the abilities to carry a caseload of therapy patients both onsite and virtually. This position will not be limited to, but will have a special focus on providing therapy services to the transgender community, people experiencing homelessness, people living with HIV/AIDS, active and former substance users, and sex workers.

Essential Functions: 

  • Conduct intake, assessment, and reassessment of clients with mental health and substance use disorders
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary care team and support clients with adhering to treatment goals
  • Offer individual psychotherapy for clients referred to the agency and clients identified through social work service
  • Provide onsite consultation for crisis situations and complete as-needed documentation
  • Develop and utilize multiple modalities to address clients’ substance use and mental health needs, including but not limited to individual psychotherapy using evidence-based treatments
  • Continually update client care plans and develop appropriate discharge plans
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external social support programs
  • Participate in all required meetings in order to ensure compliance with HRSA funded grant
  • Complete necessary documentation, assessments and treatment plans in a timely manner; for third-party payers, thoroughly documents visits for coding and billing
  • Lead and participate in case conferences, monthly staff meetings and in-service trainings
  • Participate in and comply with agency quality assurance, peer review, clinical consultation
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Master's degree in social work or equivalent required
  • ASW registration required or equivalent required. License preferred
  • Clinical expertise in assessing and managing the psychosocial needs of low-income populations, multiply-diagnosed patients (HIV, mental disorder and substance abuse), LGBTQI folks, immigrants and refugees
  • Experience with harm reduction, client-centered counseling, motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based treatment approaches
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams. Must be able to work independently and also have an adaptable working style and be a strong contributor to team performance
  • Experience developing and facilitating psychotherapy and support groups
  • Demonstrated reliability and good interpersonal, organizational, verbal, written communication skills. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and have ability to work professionally and ethically within multi-racial and multicultural settings
  • Be able to provide customer service in an effective, courteous and friendly manner and meet the needs of diverse clientele
  • Knowledge of legal mandates and ethical issues related to client privacy and confidentiality
  • Ability to travel within San Francisco and, at times, the Bay Area or nationally
  • When eligible, completion of an Involuntary Hold/5150 certification
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19, complete with Booster shot, and able to show proof of vaccination
  • Up-to-date with vaccinations, especially seasonal flu shot vaccine
  • Proof of TB clearance (issued within the past 12 months or less)
  • Spanish speaking strongly preferred
