San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living is Hiring a Materials Manager Near San Francisco, CA

POSITION SUMMARY
The materials manager will provide leadership, direction, and management oversight for the continuous improvement of the materials department within the facility. Provides staff leadership and makes sound business decisions in support of the facility’s mission and vision. Demonstrates leadership by providing an optimal environment for patient care, safety, service, and value. Manages the day-to-day operations of the department. The manager will oversee the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products according to company needs and customer requirements. Plans and forecasts customer orders. Devises policies and procedures in the areas of procurement and inventory control.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Directs inventory control, shipping and receiving, and materials storage.
  • Maintain a timely schedule for delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Develop and maintain a process for ordering all medical supplies
  • Maintain an appropriate inventory of all medical and non-medical supplies
  • Directs receiving, processing, storing, and stocking of all medical and non-medical supplies to their assigned area.
  • Issues POs for medical and non-medical supplies
  • Assist in the negotiation of vendor contracts
  • Reviews vendor contracts for compliance
  • Communicates appropriate information to other team members.
  • Ensures healthy flow throughout the supply chain
  • Monitor and manage repairs of medical equipment
  • Identify potential suppliers based on project requirements
  • Ensure items in the supply chain meet the minimum requirements for quality assurance standards.
  • Develop policies and procedures in the areas of procurement, inventory control, receiving, storage, and distribution, of supplies throughout the facility.
  • Interface directly with all departments in the facility with regard to materials that have been requested to ascertain specifications and needs.
  • Assist in maintaining sources of emergency supply items from other health facilities and vendors.
  • Follow established safe practices for receiving hazardous substances.
  • Financial analysis as required to support department goals
  • Effectively coordinates with the Director of Nursing, Administrator, and clinical and ancillary departments on all issues relating to patient care and specialty requirements and coordinates procurement of specialty equipment as indicated and approved according to facility policies.
  • Plans, coordinates, and manages all other functions associated with Materials Management Supply

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages and trains staff in the department.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY
Incumbents in this position work independently with minimal supervision and fulfill responsibilities using specialized skills and knowledge. This position interacts with a wide variety of individuals including staff, co-workers, patients, physicians, visitors, regulatory agencies, surveyors, inspectors, contractors, and vendors. This position is facility-based and has budgetary responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

  • May be required to lift to 15 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Needs the ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on the telephone.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Desired – Minimum 5 years in the healthcare environment.
  • Desired – 1 year in supervisory level experience, managing and scheduling staff.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to clearly and effectively articulate and present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal and communication skills and promotes a work environment that fosters positive energy, creativity, and teamwork among colleagues across all functional areas.

Requires knowledge of Windows applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related applications
