San Diego County Credit Union is Hiring a Benefits Coordinator Near Operations Center, CA

Position Summary

This position will administer, coordinate, act as liaison for, and prepare required reporting for a variety of Credit Union benefit administration programs. Coordinates open enrollments, schedules communications, and reconciles benefit invoices. Maintains quality service standards set by the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Researches benefit plans and vendors, and makes recommendations in alignment with organizational objectives. Coordinates benefit program rollouts as needed.
  • Coordinates the open enrollment process as well as new hires, terminations and life event changes. Conducts newly eligible benefits orientation presentations and enrollment. Creates and conducts presentations using audiovisual and electronic tools.
  • Processes benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations in the HRIS with carriers.Processes FSA enrollments, conducting monthly audits to ensure accuracy.
  • Coordinates 401(k) and 457(b) enrollments and transactions. Processes salary deferrals and loan deductions in the HRIS.Pulls 401(k) bi-weekly reports and provides support for audits as needed. Performs biweekly and monthly reconciliations.
  • Responds to inquiries pertaining to eligibility and coverage; provides clear explanation and interpretation of plans. Acts as liaison between employee and third party providers to resolve issues.
  • Generates monthly benefits reports, reconciles all monthly changes and sends final balancing to Accounting. Processes monthly benefits billing, ensuring accuracy and timely payment. Performs plan audits as needed. Generates periodic census reports, and ad hoc reports as needed.
  • Designs and distributes materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment, and plan summaries.Maintains archives of required communications and benefit plan materials.
  • Coordinates annual Health Fair.Acts as point person for all Health & Wellness initiatives to include Farmers Market, Lunch & Learns, Massages, and other Wellness topics.
  • Serves as primary liaison for plan vendors and third-party administrators. Investigates discrepancies and provides information to employees. Acts as liaison between employees and vendors.
  • Maintains vendor management system and supporting records. Coordinates new vendor approvals and annual reviews.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in answering phones, screening or appropriately directing calls and messages.
  • Back up to HR Coordinator and HR Generalists
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; to reach with hands and arms, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

  • Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field, a certificate in Human Resources Management, or equivalent work experience.
  • One year of experience working in a Human Resources Department.
  • One year general benefits administration experience or equivalent HR experience in a financial institution, to include medium to high volume transactions. Background to include accounting and/or payroll administration, including benefit invoice and/or financial reconciliation is preferred.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Effective human relations and communications skills for dealing with all levels of employees, in a variety of complex situations.
  • Demonstrated internal service skills, including patience, discretion and confidentiality.
  • Functional competency with basic HR body of knowledge.
  • Intermediate level PC and MS Office competency to include Excel and Word.
  • Professional written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective project, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Detail oriented and high degree of accuracy.
