POSITION: MIG Welder
DEPARTMENT: Production (Darlington)
JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a skilled position requiring at least basic welding knowledge and abilities. The ideal candidate knows how to properly setup the welding machine and make acceptable MIG welds on various materials and thicknesses. We are a fast-paced environment and demand the same from our employees while not sacrificing quality or safety expectations for speed.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Must be dependable and on time
Must be able to work scheduled shifts and extra hours when needed
Must be able to maintain a clean work area
Must take good care of equipment
Must be able to work from a priority system
Must be able to MIG weld items at a safe and productive pace
Must have working knowledge of welding and welding techniques
Must be able to remove splatter and clean welds as necessary
Must be able to adjust welding machine correctly
Must be able to utilize cranes as needed for handling large items
Must consistently make quality welds on various material
Must be able to use small hand tools as necessary
Must be organized and keep necessary documents and prints updated with any changes
Must be able to work safely and follow all safety procedures and guidelines
Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
Environment & Working Conditions:
Able to endure climate changes (hot and cold)
Physical Demands:
Able to lift 25lbs unassisted
Able to bend, stoop, and climb
Able to work while standing on concrete for up to 12 hours a day
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Able to read and write at a 3rd grade level
Able to read tape measure to 1/16 increments
Able to pass basic math test
Able to pass basic fractions test
Able to pass power tools test
Able to pass SCSG basic steel GMAW plate test per AWS D1.1 standards
Able to pass visual T-joint weld test
