Qualifications for Occupational Therapy Assistant:
·Current MA State License as a Occupational Therapy Assistant
·Must be a graduate of an AOTA approved Occupational Therapy Assistant Program
·Must comply with state, federal and AOTA standards of practice when planning and carrying out treatment programs and other functions of a occupational therapy assistant.
Responsibilities for Occupational Therapy Assistant:
·Provide day to day treatment generally including but not limited to training in: self care, funcitonal transfers, funcitonal ambulation, home living skills, perceptual and cognitive activities, and strengthening, balance and coordination activities
·Communicates with other disciplines as needed in order to enhance interdisciplinary team rapport and improve patient care
·Participate in home visits when appropriate, facmily conferences when appriopriate, and in community awareness and marketing activities when appropriate
·Provide necessary documentation in the residents medical record
·Provides treatment as indicated by plan of treatment
·Communicate with other disciplines and interacts with staff as necessary, as indicated by the treatment plan
·Provide routine documentation and changes to treatments according in a timely mannor according to policy
·Supervises rehab and restorative aids regarding patient treatments, ROM, resorative feeding groups and positioning of patients
·Record and submit in timely fashion all required documentation and treatment charges, according to policy and procedure
·Meets department standards of completion of discharge charts, uncluding FIMS, home treatment programs and equipment recommendations following discharge according to established facility guidelines, policy and time frames
