SAINT FRANCIS HIGH SCHOOL OF MOUNTAIN VIEW is Hiring a Cook Near Mountain View, CA

Job Details

Job Location: Saint Francis High School - Mountain View, CA
Salary Range: $25.00 - $35.00 Hourly

Description

This position will assist the lead cook in preparing food for the students and educators on campus while using creativity to help devise new methods of cooking and creating new menu items. The cook will also clean food preparation areas as required by law and school policies and understand and keep abreast of the current requirements to be in compliance with the Health Department and COVID-19. This role will also be able to cook as assigned according to the menu and recipes, follow recipes, and prepare catering orders. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning food preparation areas as required by law and school policies
  • Preparing food to the specifications of the students and educators
  • Preparing food before the arrival of the students and educators
  • Making adjustments to food prep items to accommodate the students and educators with allergies or specific diet concerns
  • Overseeing other employees in the kitchen
  • Acting as liaison to the front-of house employees to ensure proper food service, such as, proper temperature
  • Seasoning food according to recipes
  • Operating various kitchen equipment, such as slicer, oven, grill, mixer, etc.
  • Understanding portions size and food arrangement and garnishing
  • Assisting other cooks during the food assembly process as needed
  • Creating new recipes
  • Developing production sheets in order to organize preparation using weight and measurements
  • Keeping records of all food purchased
  • Greeting customers entering the lunch room and deliver excellent customer service
  • Cleaning and sanitizing stations after each guest use
  • Following all safety and health guidelines for food handling and kitchen cleaning

Suitable candidate should have a minimum of two years experience at a restaurant or food service company.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work requires visual acuity
  • Must be able to focus on highly detailed tasks for long periods of time
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • The ability to lift 25 pounds
  • Ability to sustain long period of repetitive movement
  • Possess the skills necessary to maintain and use kitchen machines safely and efficiently.
  • Basic computational skills, organizational skills, verbal communication, culinary arts skills, kitchen equipment knowledge, butchering, knowledge of international cuisines, creativity, interpersonal skills, some culinary arts training.
