Schedule: Monday, Wednesdays and possibly Sundays. Potential night shift pick up (7pm to 7am).
Job Summary: Provides face to face translation between the Spanish and English languages for limited English proficiency (LEP) patients and staff members with limited Spanish proficiency.
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.
Work Experience: 6 months to 1 year related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Tested and passed interpreter proficient. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Ability to work with others in a team approach and to follow written and oral instructions.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provide dual translations of informed consents and patient care, along with, other questions and communications between Spanish speaking patients with limited English proficiency and staff members with limited Spanish proficiency. Performs other duties as assigned.
Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.
Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction.
