SAGE Publications Inc. is Hiring an Assistant Editor Near Washington, DC

Overview

This position provides administrative support for the VP Library Editorial and SAGE Skills product development.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

Supports VP and department by:

  • Scheduling meetings
  • Preparing and distributing meeting materials, including agendas and materials to be read in advance of meetings
  • Taking/distributing meeting minutes
  • Preparing presentations in PowerPoint (or other)
  • Completing travel & entertainment and other administrative reports
  • Working with other staff and departments to support new procedures and systems
  • Working with Acquisitions Editors to support commissioning of new content for SAGE Skills and other library resources, through researching potential contributors, answering author queries, and reviewing submissions
  • Completing tasks in SAGE Track and SAGE Central to assign content to reviewers, evaluate level of development needed, maintain product data, and prepare content for production
  • Working with Acquisitions Editors to develop strong editorial and communication skills through commissioning mentorship
  • Assisting CQR editors as needed.
  • Executing contracts and financial documents using DocuSign and Proactis
  • Arranging payments: Prepare check requests and/or book shipments to pay authors, editors, consulting editors, reviewers, and others as appropriate, on a timely basis
  • Carrying out competitor and other market research to support product development
  • Working with colleagues in Production, Marketing, and other departments as needed
  • Entering data into spreadsheets and systems accurately and on time
  • Maintaining orderly electronic files
  • Creating process documentation and serve as a liaison with Global Services for the purposes of training and troubleshooting
  • Participate in in-house meetings as directed by manager

Qualifications & Education

  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint (and other presentation tools), Outlook and Internet
  • Interact appropriately with authors, customers, and colleagues to handle situations within the model of SAGE's vision statement
  • Demonstrate high level of maturity and professionalism
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Compensation at SAGE is influenced by several factors, including but not limited to skill set, nature and level of experience, qualifications, and other relevant considerations. We anticipate the minimum full-time salary range for this position to be between $40,206.40 - $46,238.40. Please note that the compensation details listed in U.S. role postings reflect the base salary only and do not include bonuses or benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range and additional aspects of the compensation/benefits package for this position during the hiring process. If your desired salary falls outside of this range, we hope you'll still apply as there may be other positions that better align.
