This Director of Purchasing role is a key position within a newly created team; In this leadership role,the successful candidate will direct the procurement of goods and services forthe Humanetics Safety Division; assist Procurement team members and colleagueswith procurement processes, change and update other procurement-related activities;develop and/or update procurement policies and procedures; and develop acentralized procurement program that will add value and efficiency to theorganization. Your team will have tactical responsibility for thedevelopment and implementation of policies, procedures, and systems thatsupport the company’s acquisition and materials management of goods andservices – for all Safety Division products, customer integrations, andinternal use. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Director of Purchasing will direct and oversee theglobal Safety purchasing staff's work to continuouslyevaluate supply chain strategy and plans to meet changing economic andcompetitive conditions. Will play an important role in helping to foster a culture of working collaboratively across functions (SupplyChain, R&D, Finance, Operations). The Director of Purchasing is ultimately responsible for thedevelopment and maintenance of a supplier base that can generate a competitiveadvantage globally despite cultural and geographical differences.Team & Team Performance• Provide leadership to managers, experienced professional staff, and operational associates to develop a strong and effective global purchasing team. • Provide positive and objective coaching/mentorship of team members.• Establish SMART performance and development goals for each department and direct reports based on performance evaluations.• Assess the strengths and weaknesses of the purchasing team and manage the team accordingly.• Clear focus on accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.Reporting• Lead global analytics and performance review for the category, including inflation, productivity, spend, and proactively identify risks/opportunities and present results to the team for action.• Identify metrics, tools, and processes to optimize sorcing globally. Determine and maintain key KPIs for all levels of procurement activities, including but not limited to supplier performance, buyer activity levels, financial performance, and material shortage elimination.• Proactively monitors and reports to leadership team major contract renewal and expiration dates.Culture• Promote a culture of continuous improvement.• Leading by example and supporting his/her commodity team to perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health, safety, and environmental rules. Follow the guidelines and rules as set out by the Employee’s handbook and Company policies and procedures.• Creates a positive work environment that promotes positive energy, creativity, and teamwork among associates by demonstrating open communication and sharing functional and technical knowledge.• Establish clear team norms and expectations. Business Performance/Process• Utilizes a total cost approach to optimizing piece prices for the assigned commodity, strategy to include but not limited to bundling, global sourcing, multiple sources/competition, specification changes, process optimization, value analysis/value engineering, logistics, and payment term improvement• Identify vendor cost savings opportunities and support strategic sourcing initiatives.• Manage P2P (Procure to Pay) workflow process related to PR/PO cycle time. Drive optimization and eliminate waste from Procurement activities.• Negotiate terms and conditions associated with POs issued to vendors as escalated• Monitor and manage vendor relationships and performance in response to PO fulfillment; successfully align suppliers' operating plans to achieve the company's objectives• Serve as ERP system (CSI) focal point for functionality as relates to improving efficiencies of the global purchasing function.• Keeps management informed on commercial issues through communications; aids and assists the team with reports, presentations, etc.• Develop and implement effective regional and/or Global sourcing strategies.ACCOUNTABILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES• Design, track and report on procurement cost and delivery time savings program for the Humanetics Safety Division designed to target a 10% reduction. o Each member of the operational leadership team (Operations Director, Sales Operations Planning Director, Quality Director, and Director Continuous Operational Improvement), including DOP, will have accountability for other key parts of the CI plan designed to support the proposed business unit target. • Initial DOP KPI’s o Number of Suppliers: Level of dependency on your supplierso Supplier Quality Rating: Quality of supplierso Supplier Availability: Suppliers’ capacity to respond to demand/inquiries.o Supplier Defect Rate: Evaluate suppliers’ individual qualityo Vendor Rejection Rate & Costso Lead Time: Understand the total time to fulfill an ordero Procurement Cost Avoidance: Avoid potential extra costs in the future QUALIFICATIONS• BS/MS Engineering (preferred), Economics, Accounting or Business Administration with a Procurement, Engineering, Operations, or Finance background• Preferred Certificationo Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) or the Certified Professional Purchasing Manager (CPPM)o A minimum of 7 years of exceptional category or procurement experience, preferably in the High-Mix Low-Volume (HMLV) Manufacturing• Must be able to lead an organization successfully by coordinating policies, people, and resources. • Experience of direct line and indirect line management and the ability to manage personnel across a geographically dispersed team• Excellent time management and problem-solving skills are required to drive purchasing objectives.• Maintains a high degree of technical proficiency and market intelligence in the procurement discipline and company-preferred vendor space.• The ability to gather, analyze, and interpret demand data to inform/support continuous improvement and strategy development• Seasoned Procurement skill set preferred• Strong communication/Interpersonal skills – the ability to work effectively as part of a team in an unstructured environment and with different groups.• Experience in sourcing complex spend categories that have not necessarily been strategically sourced in the past.• Must have proven project management skills and experience, advanced influencing capabilities, the ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, and a team-building work style.• Eager to embrace and lead change by supporting a world-class organization driven by first-rate processes which deliver results and "out of the box" possibilities• Requires a demonstrated record of initiative, problem-solving, and change management. • Creative – Inquisitive.• Drive for Results- invigorated by challenges• C-Level presentation skills, negotiation, and relationship skills• Strong knowledge and exposure to manufacturing processes and production issues• Working knowledge of contracts and terms and conditions related to LTA with suppliers.• Able to create, manage and ensure delivery of timelines for internal buyers and external vendors
