SummaryThe Enough is Enough (EIE) Counselor provides direct and indirect social service-related assistance to victims of rape, sexual assault, and intimate partner violence. The EIE Counselor delivers sexual violence prevention programming on college campuses throughout New York City and provides trauma-focused counseling crisis intervention, advocacy, and referrals to students, faculty, and staff impacted by sexual and intimate partner violence.
Responsibilities
  • Learn and integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, using an anti-oppressive lens, into your work with clients.
  • Provide short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and advocacy with criminal justice, educational, and mental health systems to college students, faculty, and staff who are victims of sexual or intimate partner violence.
  • Conduct client-centered intakes and in-depth safety assessments in person or over the phone.
  • Develop risk management plans with clients, reflecting each client’s unique situation.
  • Facilitate sexual violence primary prevention/community mobilization activities and provide educational workshops and presentations on campuses regarding sexual and intimate partner violence and the impact of trauma on victims and providers who assist them.
  • Organize and participate in campus sexual assault and domestic violence awareness events, including tabling events, panel discussions, and social media campaigns.
  • Engage in service coordination and collaboration with students and school partners to ensure effective protective actions and strategies are taken on behalf of student survivors and campus communities.
  • Engage in policy advocacy and collaborate with city and state-wide providers on Title IX and Enough is Enough reform.
  • Participate in staff meetings, community meetings, and relevant training and seminars.
  • Write and submit timely reports and other administrative requirements.
  • Enters client data and services into the case management system (“CMS”) promptly.
  • Work collaboratively and closely with Community Program colleagues funded to support victims impacted by other forms of violence and abuse to ensure cohesion of services and support.
  • Participate in outreach/tabling events hosted by community groups and schools.
  • Facilitates training programs and workshops for professional groups to promote understanding of the issues of sexual assault and assist them in developing strategies to prevent sexual assault. Review and revise curriculums as needed for these outreach efforts.
  • Various other duties to be determined by program supervisors.
Required Knowledge And Skills
  • Strong interpersonal relationship and crisis management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of victimization issues and general knowledge of treatment modalities (e.g., - trauma treatment models and domestic violence models).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Workshop facilitation and group work skills.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively as well as independently with minimal supervisory oversight.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Computer literate (including Microsoft Works, PowerPoint, and Excel).
Required Experience
  • Experience working in a social service setting providing short-term counseling to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.
Required Education
  • Master’s Degree in social work, counseling, or related field.
Desirable
  • Preferably 2-3 years of experience working with victims of sexual assault or domestic violence in a social service setting, hospital, or mental health practice.

Hiring Pay Range: 28.58 - 32.14 Hourly
