RWD Consulting is Hiring a Visual Information Specialist Near Loring, VA

The Visual Information Specialist is responsible for providing audiovisual, multimedia and graphics enhancements to material used in the Antiterrorism Assistance program (ATA) training activities. This position requires the Visual Information Specialist (VIS) to work closely with ATA's Instructional Systems Designers (ISDs), SMEs, and Technical Writers in order to develop and oversee the development of curriculum lesson plans, student materials and facilitator guides. This position supports the Training Curriculum Development Division (TCD). 

 
Major Duties: 

  • Provide advice and guidance to senior management on technical advantages and disadvantages of multimedia formats and styles; and the most effective industry methods and practices for designing nontraditional course material for international audiences that is presented using multimedia platforms and learning management systems. 

  • Interpret subject matter content and develop original designs and visual styles and effects using adult learning principles. 

  • Utilize extensive knowledge of graphics software to design and produce interactive multimedia presentations to enhance ATA course material; 

  • As a member of the Course Development Team, advise on all imaging, video and graphic matters; 

  • Perform research of subject matter to convert text themes or ideas into illustration or graphic design; 

  • Produce and format digital files as required for post-script color separation for conventional printing and/or electronic dissemination; 

  • Support ATA programs in the layout of artwork, displays, presentations, logos, brochures, posters, signs and various other informational material; 

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new technologies in the graphic art field and makes recommendations for improvements; 

  • Maintain and manage document control of all current and revised course material; 

  • Assemble and operate audiovisual presentation equipment such as digital cameras and LCD projectors; 

  • Create audio masters and soundtracks for presentations, DVDs/CD-ROMs, and video clips; 

  • Take digital photos at course locations, re-touching and formatting photographic images in digital formats for electronic documents and inclusion in ATA training material; 

  • Create digital two and three-sided line drawings, illustrations, and sketches, two dimensional scale drawings, and three-dimensional objects for tactical and non-tactical instructional use; 

  • Perform video/audio editing for class presentation usage; 

  • All duties as previously required for Clin level I. 

 
Professional Qualifications/Skills: 

  • Must be a US citizen and possess or be able to obtain/maintain a SECRET clearance; 

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of experience, or equivalent combination of formal education, experience (at least seven years preferably in a training environment, within any local, county, municipal, state, or federal law enforcement), and professional training and/or certifications. 

  • Must be highly knowledgeable in the use of commercial art, briefing aids, and desktop publishing programs; 

  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills; 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required to work in a team setting and interact with other coworkers, supervisors, Department of State personnel and other DS Agencies; 

  • Must be proficient in digital photography; 

  • Knowledgeable in digital videography including editing and video camera operation; 

  • Knowledge of a variety of methods, techniques and materials used in the design, production, and reproduction of visual products; 

  • Thorough knowledge in print production including four color process work; 

  • Experience in the use of Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator CS, Photoshop CS, InDesign, Premiere, Audition, Macromedia Flash, Visual Basic, 3D Studio Max, Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard, Moodle, or Captivate preferred; 

  • Must be proficient in Windows XP Professional, particularly, Microsoft applications (MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
