Posting Summary | Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey seeks investigators with research relevant to pediatric cancer or blood disorders to apply for Assistant to Professor, tenure-track faculty positions. Preference will be given to research that relates to the following fields: stem cell biology and transplantation; cellular therapies; immunotherapeutics; cancer predisposition syndromes; or gene therapies. However, candidates with experience in any research field related to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, or basic biology of cancers and blood disorders affecting children and adolescents are encouraged to apply. Academic rank will be through the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful applicant will be expected to develop and maintain an innovative, independent, collaborative, and extramurally-funded research program. The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Program provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art care for children and adolescents with cancer and blood disorders and is a member of the National Cancer Institute supported Children's Oncology Group (COG), the world's largest organization devoted exclusively to childhood and adolescent cancer research and clinical trials. The LITE Program at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey provides long-term evaluation, support, and health education for the growing population of childhood cancer survivors. The Center for Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorder Research was established in 2021 with the support of the State of New Jersey and is led by Dr. Peter Cole, the Embrace Kids Endowed Chair and Professor of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. The program is housed within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, located in New Brunswick, NJ, and the state's only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Its mission is to improve the lives of children diagnosed with cancer or blood disorders through research, training and education, community engagement, and public policy advocacy. To highlight just a few examples, current members of the Center are at the forefront of their research fields: in the biology of DNA repair; in the development of innovative targeted therapies; in preventing treatment-related toxicities; and in understanding disparities in treatment outcomes.
