Job Summary:
We are currently hiring a Software-focused Senior Systems Engineer to join the Effectors Systems Design & Architecture (SDA) organization located in Tucson, AZ.
SDA is an exciting and challenging environment where you will have the opportunity to design, develop and partner with multi-disciplines to shape innovative solutions for our customers. This position supports Effectors programs as a Software-focused Responsible Systems engineer, contributing directly to successful software requirements and integration for both fielded and development effectors systems. These responsibilities include managing system and subsystem requirements, providing SE technical oversight during integration and test activities, participating in verification and validation efforts for the system, and providing SE expertise in troubleshooting and failure investigations. The RSE role requires a high level of technical proficiency in the area of software integration, multi-disciplined coordination, and establishing and maintaining relationships with the customer technical community.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Update and maintain all system and subsystem level requirements specifications
  • SE technical contributor for verification and validation efforts, ensuring all requirements are being assessed during Formal Qualification Testing
  • Work closely with the Systems, Software, and Test teams and IPTs on a variety of program technical tasks
  • Participate in technical conversations with the customer
  • Become a knowledgeable and 'go-to' Systems Engineer for the program
  • Help to onboard new team members, mentor, and guide them using core Systems Engineering skills
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Five (5) years of experience in one or more of the following technical domains:
    • Systems engineering, architecture, and/or design
    • System performance and analysis
    • Algorithms and signal processing
    • Modeling and simulation (for example 6-DOF)
    • Mission planning and analysis
    • RF Sensor sub-systems
    • Communication systems or subsystems
    • Software architecture, design, development, integration, and verification
    • Configurable Logic / Firmware / VHDL architecture, design, development, integration, and verification
  • Two (2) years of systems engineering experience with exposure in at least four of the following:
    • Interfacing with customers
    • Developing CONOPS
    • Developing & Refining System Architecture
    • Developing & Refining System Requirements
    • Performing Functional & Physical Analyses
    • Performing Functional Allocation
    • Creating & Maintaining Specifications
    • Developing Requirements Verification Strategies and Plans
    • Developing Integrated Systems Security Solutions
    • Subassembly Integration & Verification
    • System Integration & Verification
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Cost Account Management or Earned Value Management
  • MS or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics
  • Experience using Agile framework development methods/processes
  • Experience using Azure DevOps methods/tools
  • Experience with Matlab, C, C#, C , Python
  • Past work experience in a challenging fast paced environment
  • Ability to perform trade studies to optimize system performance
  • Familiarity with military systems; tactics, techniques, and procedures
  • Familiarity with DoD customer infrastructure
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering Product Development Cycle
  • Familiarity with system safety, reliability, or mission planning
  • Experience evaluating and mitigating technical risks
  • Prior work experience giving technical briefs or presentations
  • Strong communication skills

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
