Ruby Receptionists HQ is Hiring an Accountant (Contract) Near Austin, TX

Overview

We are seeking a contract Accountant to perform the accounting close, apply GAAP knowledge to properly record transactions in the general ledger, analyze variances and help streamline accounting processes for our high growth, private equity backed business. This position will also play a key role in the annual audit and support other accounting functions.

This position will report to the VP, Controller and is open to U.S.-based remote contractors. We are looking for two contract accountants, one position can plan for 30 hours per week and the other can plan for 40 hours per week. The contract duration is expected to last 2-3 months.

What You’ll Be Accountable For

  1. Perform the monthly financial close processes, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, roll forwards and analytics for various accounts in accordance with organizational policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  2. Perform monthly variance analysis, including research and documentation. Resolve discrepancies between the GL and supporting documentation.
  3. Prepare payroll entries and work closely with the Payroll Manager to reconcile payroll and benefits related accounts.
  4. Monitor banking transactions, perform analysis, book daily bank activity into ledgers (receipts and disbursements, etc.) and perform bank reconciliations.
  5. Maintain integrity of financial statements and adequate internal controls within the accounting processes to ensure well documented, accurate and timely financial reporting.
  6. Provide support for the annual financial audit, including preparing audit schedules and responding to questions and requests from external auditors.
  7. Proactively review current procedures and processes, identify areas for improvement and suggest ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness via the implementation of new tools, systems, and automation of accounting processes.
  8. Assist with various projects and special assignments, including new system implementations, research, analysis and documentation related to accounting treatment of proposed transactions.
  9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the organization to ensure timely and accurate completion of key reporting activities.

  • Data Integrity: You perform accounts reconciliations and resolve differences to ensure complete and accurate reporting.
  • Scalability: You take an active role in contributing ideas and seeking ways to improve accounting processes and procedures.

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting or CPA
  • Public Accounting experience is a plus
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, including US GAAP.
  • Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously to achieve results.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, communicate progress and execute effectively.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (NetSuite or Intacct is a plus).
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
