Human Resources Director, Richmond
Job Summary: The Human Resources Director (HRD) is part of Team Talent because they apply antiracist, anti-oppression principles to every facet of their responsibilities. The HRD invests in the development, wellness, and belonging of all of our 150 employees by creating a place where people love to work, grow their careers, and are sure how they contribute to the organization's success. The HRD partners with senior leaders to create a best-in-class workforce and acts as a trusted coach and advisor to managers. The HRD is a thought partner with the Executive Team to increase organizational capacity and develop strategic goals.
This position reports to the Chief Talent Officer and has a dotted line reporting relationship to Rubicon’s General Counsel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, implement and innovate on equitable, strategic, and operational Human Resources systems, practices, and processes for the overall operational effectiveness of the organization, including:
  • Manage our current human resources system and ensure that it meets Rubicon’s information needs
  • Serving as the subject matter expert in employee relations, legal compliance, developing policies, procedures, and standards for implementation organization-wide in partnership with leadership
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state legal requirements, including those related to the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA), and Workers Compensation
  • Managing compensation, benefits, bonuses, and integrity of the salary structure
  • Using multiple methods of communication and delivery to ensure senior leaders understand our policies, practices, and systems (including Culture Amp, employee handbook, time keeping system, etc.)
  • Performing needs assessments and process improvements, making recommendations on organizational design and development issues, determining the metrics and measures required to continuously advance HR’s effectiveness and value-add, and provide executive-level reports for critical analyses of the HR function and people resources of the organization
  • Learning and operationalizing Restorative HR practices
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on talent and organization-wide initiatives, including:
  • Recruitment and pay strategies, performance development; retention practices; succession planning;
  • Develop career lattices and strategies to support employee growth and development; implement all people-related strategies; participate and lead interdepartmental initiatives
  • Developing organization-specific, equitable policies and practices; actively participate in setting the HR strategy for planning processes; and actively promote best practices
  • Organizational and behavioral change
  • Act as a thought partner to the CTO on division goals and strategic plans
  • Participating in and leading organization-wide projects/initiatives, as needed
  • Management and Coaching
  • Hire, coach, and develop team members, as needed, to meet the team member, team, and organization needs while fostering an inclusive and equitable environment
  • Develop direct reports by delegating responsibilities and identifying opportunities for staff to absorb new responsibilities
  • Support senior leaders with resolving conflicts
Education / Experience:
  • At least eight years of relevant human resources experience, including five years of supervisory experience
  • Successful track record of establishing credibility and trust with diverse groups
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills as well as managerial courage
  • Demonstrated ability to advise on and implement organizational change leveraging a change management framework
  • Demonstrated end-to-end experience in the development and implementation of organization-wide initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience as a consultant and advisor to senior management in all human resources areas, including employee relations, employment law, benefits/total compensation, staffing and recruitment, training and development, performance coaching and management, and organizational development
  • Strong supervision/management and staff development experience

  • Skilled with leveraging Emotional Intelligence and understanding of group dynamics
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, creative problem solving, judgment and objectivity, negotiating, influencing, and strategic decision-making
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
  • Ability to work with a high level of independence and exercise a high degree of humility, initiative, influence, and judgement
  • A growth mindset and understanding of Design Thinking and innovation
  • Facilitation and communication skills needed to prepare clear and concise reports and deliver presentations or training to senior management and other audiences
  • Skilled at or highly receptive to learning and integrating Coaching, Cultural Responsiveness, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Informed Practices in practices and behaviors
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with business applications, such as Microsoft Office and Office 365 suite and human resource information and applicant tracking systems

Salary Range: $115,000-$125,000.
