Position Purpose Statement:

Environmental Project Manager will be responsible for the daily management of Protected Species Observer (PSO) project including academic and industry programs. The role requires client interactions and maintenance of associate relationships in addition to quality assurance of in-field operations, data collection and client and regulatory reporting. PMs provide logistical, technical and HSE support in in-field PSOs teams deployed on marine programs that operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the year. It requires regulatory and technical knowledge of marine industry and client operations.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Safety:

  • The project support specialist is a staff member in the Operations Division and has responsibility to ensure safety is a prime concern in any aspect of the business in which they have influence. All RPS employees have a responsibility to behave in a manner, which ensures that their actions, or omissions, do not adversely affect the environment or health, safety and wellbeing of themselves, colleagues, contractors, or members of the public.
  • All Employees are responsible for:
  • Meeting all responsibilities as outlined in the RPS HSE policy and management systems
  • Participating in any training and safety initiatives implemented by RPS
  • Complying comply with all reasonable safety directives, and work instructions
  • Stopping work if it is not safe to continue
  • Reporting immediately any incident or potential hazard to their supervisor.

People:

  • Maintain external relationships with existing associates and clients, keeping RPS’ best interests as a priority.
  • Foster and maintain internal relationships with the goal of creating internal synergy and a cooperative work environment.
  • Provide support for the operations administrative staff to ensure timely completion of month-end procedures and processes.
  • Demonstrates the skills and knowledge appropriate for the position
  • Adapts to the team and builds team spirit
  • Listens, consults others, and communicates proactively
  • Shares expertise and knowledge with others and demonstrates flexibility

Clients:

  • Maintain client relationships.
  • Ensure that the associates for which you are responsible provide quality services and are fit for purpose to clients.
  • Ensure services provided to clients support clients in maintaining regulatory compliance.

Processes:

  • Assist in the implementation of the RPS HSE policies and procedures as they pertain to the Operations Division.
  • Participate in the weekly Operations and any other necessary meetings including conferences.
  • Work in partnership with the broader RPS Energy businesses, RPS Group businesses, and embrace the ‘One RPS’ vision.
  • Adhere to the RPS Energy processes in place.

Performance:

  • Support NAm PSO in contributing to the Global Energy Operations Division in achieving Key Performance Indicators in the areas of Safety & Quality, People, Clients, Growth, and Performance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High-level knowledge, understanding and application of technical concepts, processes and activities, including regulatory frameworks within which client operations are conducted.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant standards and legislation as relevant to the NAm PSO Energy Operations Division.
  • Knowledge of the Energy Operations processes.
  • Ability to manage associates and projects.
  • Ability to solve problems and manage conflict.
  • Ability to develop long-term business relationships with clients.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with clients, staff, and managers.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) or equivalent professional qualifications.
  • Experience with personnel and project management.
